Jigawa State Police Commissioner, Usman Gomna, descends on criminals, recovers vehicles, arms and ammunition

Jigawa State Police Commissioner, Usman Sule Gomna, has descended on criminals terrorizing the state and recovered vehicles, arms and ammunition.

The Commissioner’s operational activities in the past few weeks confirm his renewed commitment to rid the State of criminal activities.

In a statement by the Command’s spokesman,  Superintendent  Abdul Jinjiri, Commissioner  Gomna has renewed fresh onslaught against criminals in Jigawa.

According to Jinjiri, “The Commissioner of Police, Jigawa State Command, Usman Sule Gomna, has ordered Area Commanders and Divisional Police Officers in the State to embark on raiding expeditions. The essence is to check the proliferation of arms, specially in areas suspected to be hideout for hoodlums.

“It was against this background that on September 12, Police in Gwiwa Local Government Area swung on  Kabaka Fulani settlement. A suspect, Bala Kama took to his heels on sighting the police officers. He is suspected to have been responsible for some of the heinous crimes in the community. The community has been notorious for motorcycle snatching, armed robbery, killing of two vigilante at Tinkishi village.

Expectedly, the Police conducted a search round the settlement and recovered two AK 47 rifles and 149 rounds of ammunition. Other items recovered were five magazines; one magazine jacket and two knives,” the PPRO disclosed.

The spokesman spoke further saying it was suspected that the colour and Calibre of recovered empty shells at the scene where the two vigilantes lost their lives were similar to the ones found at the settlement.

In the same vein, officers in Hadejia Local Government Area, on September 15 received a complaint of obtaining by deceit.

According to Police, “At about  Noon,  three unknown young persons were in Hadejia to buy a Golf 3 Saloon car. The seller was  Umar Garba of  Kafin Hausa  Local Government Area of Jigawa State. They came  through a coordinator named  Sani Bello.

After bargain,  the car was sold for N1,400,00. The money was said to have been transferred instantly into the account of the seller. Alert was received. The vehicle and its particulars were released.

However, it turned out a fluke. When Sani needed to withdraw, he discovered there was no money in the account. He  reported to the Police.

In this regard, the Police swung into action and on September 19 and Maxwell Saheed and Sumart Victor, both of Maimalari Army Barracks were arrested. But  David Joshua, suspected to be a dismissed army officer took to his heels. The vehicle was recovered.

In the course of investigation, Sule Wada of Dutse recognized one of the suspects who he alledged had  duped him in the same way and went away with his Mercedes vehicle.

All the cases, according to Abdul Jinjiri, are  under investigation as effort is being intensified to arrest the fleeing suspect
