JAMB Releases Underage UTME Results

 

OpenLife News reports that the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has released the 2026 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) results of underage candidates for viewing.

This was disclosed in a statement on Saturday by JAMB’s Public Communication Adviser, Dr. Fabian Benjamin.

Release For Viewing Only, Not For Admission

According to Benjamin, the release does not automatically qualify underage candidates for admission.
He defined an underage candidate for the 2026 admission exercise as anyone who will be less than 16 years old as of September 30, 2026.

“The results were released primarily to enable candidates and their parents or guardians to know their performance. Such results cannot be used for admission or any other official purpose, except for candidates who satisfy the requirements for exceptionally performing underage candidates,” he said.

How To Check Underage UTME Results
Candidates can check their results by sending “RESULT” to 55019 or 66019 using the same SIM card used for UTME registration.

Strict Conditions For Exceptional Underage Admission

JAMB said only exceptionally performing underage candidates who meet specific conditions will be considered for admission. The process is described as “rigorous and multi-staged” to test academic maturity.

Requirements include:
Minimum UTME score of 320
Minimum of 80% in relevant SSCE subjects, where applicable
Meeting Post-UTME requirements of chosen institutions
Passing a final assessment by experts

Benjamin advised candidates who do not meet these requirements not to present their results to any institution for admission.

NECO Results Awaited For Final Assessment

JAMB said the admission process for exceptional underage candidates is still ongoing and awaiting the release of NECO results for verification.

“The NECO results are yet to be released, and the Board would therefore await their release before proceeding to the final stage of the assessment process,” Benjamin explained.

The Board will announce a date for the final assessment once NECO results are out.

JAMB Warns Against Fraudsters

The Board urged parents, guardians and candidates to avoid individuals claiming they can secure admission for underage candidates outside the prescribed process.

“Participation in UTME and release of results do not, in themselves, guarantee admission, particularly for candidates who have not attained the prescribed age,” Benjamin reiterated.

JAMB assured that the process will remain <strong>transparent, rigorous and merit-based.
