Iyabo Ojo Faces Backlash Over FAAN Praise At Lagos Airport
OpenLife Nigeria reports that Nollywood actress Iyabo Ojo is responding to backlash after praising the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN).
Days ago, she shared a promotional video showcasing upgrades at Murtala Muhammed International Airport, celebrating the changes at the terminal. Many fans criticized her for seemingly endorsing the agency, but Iyabo insists she was motivated by love for Nigeria, not politics or payment.
“I’m Nigerian. And I’m a voice. When I see progress, airports upgraded, roads rebuilt, systems improved, etc., I shout it from the rooftops, if need be, not because I’m paid, not because I’m political, but because I feel it and I want good for my country. I will continue to use my craft and my voice to promote Nigeria, and I’m unapologetic about it.”
She explained that FAAN approached her to showcase the improvements, and she agreed for free.
“As an influential person, a frequent traveller, a good citizen, and a child of this land… I got approved to film at the airport.
FAAN approached me: ‘You’ve seen the changes. Please help us spread the word’. So I did.
FOR FREE.
No fee.
No contract. Just love for Nigeria.
Note: My fees as an influencer are way higher than the cost to pay and film at the airport — so I won’t call it ‘trade’ by Bata… but just for the love of seeing changes.”
Answering why she praised FAAN, she said:
“Some ask: Why praise them?
I say, I praise GOOD not government, and if the government does good, I’ll praise them too.
I praised FAAN they’re doing an amazing job. I patronise them all the time. Even for my daughter’s wedding, they did so well.
My loyalty? To my country. Always.
I’m not just a voice. I’m a movement.
If Nigeria must rise, we ALL must build it.
Silence helps no one.
Progress needs witnesses, needs amplifiers, and needs you and me.
That’s our win.
I’ll work with any political party as long as it’s about building a better tomorrow for our dear nation.
No hate.
No agenda.
Just hands joined.
Let’s stop dividing.
Start building.”

Iyabo Ojo’s message is clear: her loyalty is to Nigeria, not politics, and she will continue to celebrate progress wherever she sees it.
Whether praising upgraded airports or other national developments, the actress remains unapologetic using her voice and influence to amplify positive change and inspire others to do the same.
