ISWAP commander, Mohammed Yusuf killed (PHOTO)

<p><strong>Mohammed Yusuf&comma; the son of Goni Maina who was named after the founder of Boko Haram&comma; has been confirmed dead during the recent Nigerian military air strikes at Bukar Mairam&comma; in the Marte Local Government Area &lpar;LGA&rpar; of Borno State&comma; on the western coast of Lake Chad&period;<&sol;strong><&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>Yusuf was holding the position of Commander &OpenCurlyDoubleQuote;Rijal Amne” in Marte&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p><img class&equals;"alignnone size-medium wp-image-13081" src&equals;"https&colon;&sol;&sol;openlife&period;ng&sol;wp-content&sol;uploads&sol;2022&sol;02&sol;20220211&lowbar;085310-768x1024-1-225x300&period;jpg" alt&equals;"" width&equals;"225" height&equals;"300" &sol;><&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>The boy’s father&comma; Maina&comma; was the former commander &lpar;governor of the Lake Chad&rpar; of the terrorist group&comma; the Islamic State of West Africa &lpar;ISWAP&rpar;&period; Maina was killed on December 1 2020 in an air raid jointly conducted by the Nigerian Army and the Air Force&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>The air raid at the time also led to the elimination of more than 100 insurgents&comma; &OpenCurlyDoubleQuote;including several high-ranking insurgents’ commanders&comma; foot soldiers and Hisbah police from the ISWAP faction&comma; late Abubakar Shekau faction and foreign mercenaries”&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>Since January&comma; sustained airstrikes on terrorists’ enclaves in the northwest and northeast regions by the Nigerian Air Force &lpar;NAF&rpar; aircrafts have killed high-profile terrorists’ leaders and their foot soldiers in Katsina State&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>Authorities insist that strikes against terrorist elements will continue for as long as they continue to pose threats to peace-loving Nigerians&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;
