The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on Saturday promised that it will not postpone the 2023 general elections because financially, it is ready.

INEC’s Head of Operations in Gombe State, Aminu Isah, gave this assurance during an engagement with youth-focused groups in the North-East region.

The INEC official disclosed that unlike in the past, the Commission had received the needed resources that would make the electoral processes smooth.

“INEC has gotten all its funds ahead of the elections. There will not be any possible postponement of 2023 elections, unlike the 2019,” Isah said.

There have been concerns over the 2023 election due to the heightened attacks on INEC offices in some parts of Nigeria.

Some diaspora-based separatists are calling on people of the southeast region to boycott the forthcoming election, while armed collaborators have launched deadly attacks on innocent citizens and security operatives.
