How Rotimi Amaechi Is Partly Responsible For South East Problem—Pete Edoche
OpenLife Nigeria reports that Pete Edoche, a veteran Nollywood star has said that the problem in south east Nigeria is partly orchestrated by the Minister of Transportation, Mr. Rotimi Amaechi.
Pete Edoche made this disclosure on Thursday when he featured in Africa Independent Television, AIT programme titled Ending Ritual Killings.
Reacting to the belief in some quarters that ritual killing scenes in Nollywood have greatly inspired young ones to go into ritual killings, Edoche explained that it is wrong for anyone to say that Nollywood, where he is a big player, is encouraging ritual killing saying that those who hold such belief need to know that Nollywood is “didactic.”
He noted that Nollywood mirrors the society adding that ritual killings in Nollywood is just to alert citizens about what happens in the society and to significantly disuade younger ones from indulging in such inhumane activities.
To be sure, Edoche maintained that ritual killers in films don’t end well, stressing that films are deliberately acted that way to send the right message to the young ones about the negativity in such way of life.
However, Edoche emphasized that what has inspired young ones into ritual killings is traceable to government ‘s failure to entrench engaging vocations for the youths.
For instance, he stated that Rotimi Amaechi, the Minister of Transportation deliberately cut off the entire south east from the national railroad plans.
He stressed that lots of youths would have been taken off the streets if they were fortunate to be engaged in the construction of rail route across eastern part of Nigeria.
“When we asked Amaechi, he simply said ‘next one,’ Edoche said.
