How Nigerian Army killed 105 Boko Haram terrorists in Yobe

Over the weekend, specifically on Saturday, April 18, a combination of tactical intelligence, photo finished strategy through an  expanded ground operations by the gallant troop of Sector 2 of Operation Lafia Dole, OPLD, resulted into a major assault on the Boko Haram and the  Islamic State of West Africa Province, ISWAP, stronghold, leading to the death of not less than 150 insurgents.

Arms and ammunition including  other dangerous weapons were recovered from the enclave of the terrorists during the operations.

Overtime, the insurgents’  chameleon-like ability to shift back and forth across the divide from insurgent to civilian; recognising when it is best to fight and when to walk away, downing tools when continued resistance, rendered the Nigerian Army’s effort comatose. But last Saturday was different.

An elated Brigadier General Lawrence Araba, the Commander of OPLD, told the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Tukur Buratai on Sunday, during a visit to the Army camp in Yobe, that accurate intelligent report ensured the success of the operations adding that Boko Haram had planned an attack on the communities before the Army swooped on them.

“Based on intelligent reports received Boko Haram’s  planned attacked on Buni Gari, our troop moved swiftly, intercepted and engaged them in fierce battle. About 150 of them were killed by our soldiers,” he reported.

Buratai, who was full of praise for the gallantry of the Nigerian Army, vowed to ensure that everything required to end insurgency in the north east is provided.

He applauded their efforts and urged them to soldier on till Boko Haram is completely exterminated.

The Army Chief visited injured soldiers at the Field Ambulance Logistics Base 3 and Special Forces School in Buni Yadi.
