How My Husband Died is the narrative of Joe Odumakin
A human right activist, humanist, columnist and defender of Justice, Yinka Odumakin, is dead, OpenLife Nigeria can report.
He died in the early hours of Saturday, March 4, 2021 in Lagos.
In a statement signed by the wife, Mrs Joe Okei Odumakin and made available to OpenLife, Yinka Odumakin was said to have been ill for a while and was being attended medically at the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital, LASUTH.
He was also said to be fast responding to treatment and had gotten well substantially when he died.
According to the statement, the late activist “Was being managed for respiratory issues.”
The statement titled ‘A PART OF ME IS GONE’ reads:
“With gratitude to the Supreme Being for a life well spent, I announce the passing on of my beloved husband, Comrade Yinka Odumakin to the great beyond after a brief illness.
“The sad event happened this morning, Saturday, April 3,2021, at the intensive care unit of LASUTH where he was being managed for respiratory issues due to complications from COVID-19 which he had recovered from about a week ago.
“I appreciate the outpouring of grief and sympathy from home and abroad as I mourn my irreplaceable soulmate.
“I urge us all to remain steadfast in the cause of the masses to which he dedicated his life.
“Burial arrangement will be made public in due course.”

Yinka Odumakin, said to 59 years old, was the Chief Executive Officer Kaphine Nigeria Ltd.
The former Publicity Secretary of Yoruba socio cultural organization, Afenifere, participated actively in the 2014 national conference organized by former President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan.
