<p>&nbsp&semi;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p><em>How IBB favoured cronies<&sol;em><&sol;p>&NewLine;<p><strong><a href&equals;"https&colon;&sol;&sol;openlife&period;ng&sol;">OpenLife Nigeria<&sol;a><&sol;strong> reports that arising from the interview former President Ibrahim Babangida granted Arise TV last week&comma; a human rights activist&comma; Mr&period; Femi Falana has revealed some of Babangida’s sinister deeds in the office including unmerited distribution of oil blocks to cronies&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>He made the disclosure at the Lagos State chapter of the Committee for the Defense of Human Rights &lpar;CDHR&rpar;&comma; which organized a public lecture in honour of Dr&period; Beko Ransome Kuti&comma; who was a thorn in the flesh of the Nigerian ruling class for many years&period;<br &sol;>&NewLine;Beko was among the most consistent&comma; staunch and fearless human rights campaigners in Africa&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>In a keynote address&comma; Falana accused former Nigerian Military President&comma; General Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida&comma; IBB&comma; of disrupting history&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>According to Falana&comma; Babangida would have gotten a perfect answer from Late Dr&period; Beko Ransome Kuti and Late Chief Gani Fawehinmi if they&&num;8217&semi;re alive&period;<br &sol;>&NewLine;However&comma; the fiery lawyer has promised to do justice to some of Babangida&&num;8217&semi;s comments on their behalf&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>In the interview&comma; Babangida&comma; widely addressed as &OpenCurlyQuote;Evil genius&comma;’ claimed that corruption under President Buhari is worse than his regime&period;<br &sol;>&NewLine;He thereafter narrated how he sacked an officer for stealing N300&comma;000 during his regime&period;<br &sol;>&NewLine;Reacting to Babangida claims&comma; Falana said Babangida stole Nigeria&&num;8217&semi;s public assets and sold them to his friends at give-away prices&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>He said one of Babangida&&num;8217&semi;s girlfriends who was a hairdresser was gifted oil block and today&comma; she is one of the richest females in the country&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>Furthermore&comma; the law practitioner accused <a href&equals;"https&colon;&sol;&sol;www&period;vanguardngr&period;com&sol;">Babangida<&sol;a> of running the country down carelessly so much so that neither financial experts nor the Central Bank of Nigeria could ascertain the regime’s debt status&period; Falana said even Abacha was embarrassed when a panel he created to probe Babaginda’s financial records found out that he carted away &dollar;12&period;4b between 1988 to 1992&period;<br &sol;>&NewLine;Falana said that remains the largest case of corruption in Africa&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>General Ibrahim Babangida  who hails from Nigeria State was Nigeria&&num;8217&semi;s military president between August 27&comma; 1985 and August 26&comma; 1993<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>&nbsp&semi;<&sol;p>&NewLine;
