How Governor Emmanuel Allegedly Spent Billions To Conduct PDP ‘Primary’ In Govt House

How Governor Emmanuel spent billions

OpenLife Nigeria has gathered that the executive governor of Akwa Ibom State, Emmanuel Udom, may have spent billions of Naira to conduct Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, ‘primary’ election for the 2023 governorship contest in the State.

Governor Udom is on the last lap of his two-tenure of eight years.

According to information, the governor conveyed a well attended meeting in Lagos last week. Critical stakeholders were said to be in attendance when the issue of his successor and indeed his choice of successor was deliberated upon.

To get the buy-in of the stakeholders, governor Udom was said to have doled out billions to those he believe would object to his proposal.

Insiders who spoke to OpenLife averred that what transpired at the government house in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State capital was just a formality.

The source stated further that “When you see top men in the society gathered like that in a governor’s meeting, you should know that Akwa Ibom money is talking,” he said.

At a stakeholders’ meeting on Sunday, former Governor Victor Attah announced Mr Umo Eno,  Commissioner for Lands, as Governor Emmanuel’s preferred choice of successor.

Many stakeholders, who were not in the know of the plans,  reportedly stormed out of the meeting.

The choice, OpenLife gathered,  has divided the PDP in the state.

Governor Emmanuel, before now, had severally said he had no anointed candidate for 2023, despite speculations that he had interest in Eno.

Governor Emmanuel appears the only governor within PDP who has concluded on his successor with or without primary.
