How American Lady Got Masari To Spend N300 Million On Dogs To Combat Crime

How American lady pushed of dog security

OpenLife Nigeria reports that banditry, insurgency and other forms of criminal activities may have overwhelmed the governor of Katsina State, Aminu Masari.
This is particularly so as some of his recent decisions taken by the governor are getting stakeholders worried.
One of such decision was the purchase of dogs to combat Boko Haram that have been terrorizing the State at a whooping sum of N300 million.
An insider who confided in OpenLife disclosed that an American lady who is known to have been a close friend of governor Masari initiated the dog option.
She was said to have convinced the governor that dog security, as practiced in the United States of America, is very effective.
The lady, who has known Bello Masari since his days as Speaker, House of Representatives, told the governor that the specially trained dogs have the capacity to smell insurgents many miles away.
Governor Aminu Masari was further convinced that the dogs are trained to alert security agents whenever they smell criminals miles away. That would enable security agents to nip all criminal attempts in the bud within the periphery of schools in Katsina State.
Given that school children have been the soft targets of insurgents who kidnap and demand ransom, the governor was said to have bought the idea wholesale and coughed out N300 million for the purchase of the first batch.
The dogs, some of which have been deployed to schools look funny and skinny.
The State Commissioner for Education, Dr Badamasi Lawal Charanchi, who was brought into the deal long ago, has been going round schools for monitoring.

Over the years, banditry has been the major form of insecurity affecting the North West geopolitical zone.
This has led to acute food shortage in Jibia, Batsari, Safana, Faskari and Dandume including other parts of the State.
The negative impacts include killing and kidnapping of farmers, chasing of farmers out of their farmlands, seizing of farmlands, theft of cattle, burning and raiding of grain silos, and blocking of local trade routes.
The Federal and State Governments have been making efforts towards tackling the insurgents.

In signing the state’s 2021 budget of N286.6 billion into law late December 2020, governor Masari assured the people of his administration’s commitment to enhance their living condition and called for their continuous support.
The governor urged the people of the state to continue to pray to the Almighty Allah to bring an end to the security challenges bedeviling the state.

The State in the northwestern geopolitical zone of Nigeria was created in 1987 by General Ibrahim Babangida government.
It has an estimated population of 7,831,319 and land mass of
24,192 km².
It borders Kaduna, Zamfara, Kano, and Jigawa States.
