How American Lady Got Masari To Spend N300 Million On Dogs To Combat Crime

<p><em>How American lady pushed of dog security <&sol;em><&sol;p>&NewLine;<p><strong><a href&equals;"https&colon;&sol;&sol;openlife&period;ng&sol;">OpenLife Nigeria<&sol;a><&sol;strong> reports that banditry&comma; insurgency and other forms of criminal activities may have overwhelmed the governor of Katsina State&comma; Aminu Masari&period;<br &sol;>&NewLine;This is particularly so as some of his recent decisions taken by the governor are getting stakeholders worried&period;<br &sol;>&NewLine;One of such decision was the purchase of dogs to combat Boko Haram that have been terrorizing the State at a whooping sum of N300 million&period;<br &sol;>&NewLine;An insider who confided in OpenLife disclosed that an American lady who is known to have been a close friend of governor Masari initiated the dog option&period;<br &sol;>&NewLine;She was said to have convinced the governor that dog security&comma; as practiced in the United States of America&comma; is very effective&period;<br &sol;>&NewLine;The lady&comma; who has known Bello Masari since his days as Speaker&comma; House of Representatives&comma; told the governor that the specially trained dogs have the capacity to smell insurgents many miles away&period;<br &sol;>&NewLine;Governor Aminu Masari was further convinced that the dogs are trained to alert security agents whenever they smell criminals miles away&period; That would enable security agents to nip all criminal attempts in the bud within the periphery of schools in Katsina State&period;<br &sol;>&NewLine;Given that school children have been the soft targets of insurgents who kidnap and demand ransom&comma; the governor was said to have bought the idea wholesale and coughed out N300 million for the purchase of the first batch&period;<br &sol;>&NewLine;The dogs&comma; some of which have been deployed to schools look funny and skinny&period;<br &sol;>&NewLine;The State Commissioner for Education&comma; Dr Badamasi Lawal Charanchi&comma; who was brought into the deal long ago&comma; has been going round schools for monitoring&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>Over the years&comma; banditry has been the major form of insecurity affecting the North West geopolitical zone&period;<br &sol;>&NewLine;This has led to acute food shortage in J<a href&equals;"https&colon;&sol;&sol;tribuneonlineng&period;com">ibia&comma; Batsari&comma; Safana&comma; Faskari and Dandume<&sol;a> including other parts of the State&period;<br &sol;>&NewLine;The negative impacts include killing and kidnapping of farmers&comma; chasing of farmers out of their farmlands&comma; seizing of farmlands&comma; theft of cattle&comma; burning and raiding of grain silos&comma; and blocking of local trade routes&period;<br &sol;>&NewLine;The Federal and State Governments have been making efforts towards tackling the insurgents&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>In signing the state’s 2021 budget of N286&period;6 billion into law late December 2020&comma; governor Masari assured the people of his administration’s commitment to enhance their living condition and called for their continuous support&period;<br &sol;>&NewLine;The governor urged the people of the state to continue to pray to the Almighty Allah to bring an end to the security challenges bedeviling the state&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>The State in the northwestern geopolitical zone of <a href&equals;"https&colon;&sol;&sol;openlife&period;ng&sol;">Nigeria<&sol;a> was created in 1987 by General Ibrahim Babangida government&period;<br &sol;>&NewLine;It has an estimated population of 7&comma;831&comma;319 and land mass of<br &sol;>&NewLine;24&comma;192 km²&period;<br &sol;>&NewLine;It borders Kaduna&comma; Zamfara&comma; Kano&comma; and Jigawa States&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>&nbsp&semi;<&sol;p>&NewLine;
