OpenLife News reports that Imo State Governor and Chairman of the APC National Campaign Council for the Osun Governorship Election, Hope Uzodimma, has fired back at Afrobeats star David “Davido” Adeleke over comments on the forthcoming Osun poll.
Davido, who is leading the youth campaign mobilisation for his uncle, Governor Ademola Adeleke, had addressed supporters and alleged that a politician from Imo State planned to interfere in the August 15 election.
He did not mention names but urged the individual to allow a free and fair process.
Responding on Wednesday through his Senior Special Assistant on Electronic and Creative Media, Ambrose Nwaogwugwu, Uzodimma said Davido should direct his appeal to Osun voters instead.
“It is rather pedestrian for Davido to direct such an appeal to the Chairman of the Progressive Governors’ Forum simply because his wife is from Imo State,” the statement said.
“The Governor of Imo State has consistently preached peace and reaffirmed his commitment to a peaceful, free, and credible election.”
“He Has Failed.”
Uzodimma also took a swipe at Adeleke’s performance, claiming the PDP governor had not met expectations.“The reality is that Governor Ademola Adeleke has, in the opinion of many, failed woefully in the discharge of his responsibilities.
This is why many Osun voters are determined to vote him out in the August 15, 2026 governorship election,” he said.
He added that the APC would continue to appeal to voters to support its candidate, Bola Oyebamiji, noting that “signals emerging from across Osun State” show voters want “a new direction.””Be Ready to Employ Him”
In a jab at the singer, Uzodimma urged Davido to prepare for life after the election.“Rather than attempting to influence Governor Hope Uzodimma through emotional appeals, Davido should concentrate on helping his uncle prepare for life after office…
Perhaps, Davido should also begin making preparations to officially sign his uncle as a dancer in his musical band, because judging by the mood of the electorate, he may well be out of a political job after August 15,” the statement read.
