Honourable Minister Hannatu Musawa In Fresh Trouble

OpenLife Nigeria reports that the Minister of Culture, Tourism and Creative Economy, Hannatu Musawa, is in trouble for allegedly “talking too much.”

Minister Musawa has been actively commenting on the political strategy for the All Progressives Congress, APC ahead the 2027 general elections.

This disclosure was made to OpenLife Monday night in Abuja by a top APC leader.

Speaking and requesting not to be named because of the sensitive nature of the issue at stake, the Distinguished Senator on APC platform said “Musawa is talking too much. She touched on a sensitive subject that is being carefully managed by stakeholders.

“She is already drawing conclusions on what will happen if XYZ gets ticket or not. Who is Musawa speaking for? Who sent her? She has just created problems for us by opening her mouth too wide and we are not comfortable with it,” the northern Senator said annoyingly.

How The Problem Started

The Honourable Minister had warned that APC speaking at a recent episode of “Mic On Show” with journalist Seun Okinbaloye.

She said the party will significantly weaken its chances in the 2027 presidential election if it drops Vice President Kashim Shettima from the ticket, or fails to pick a northern Muslim to run with President Bola Tinubu in his re-election bid.

Her comments followed rising speculation that the ruling party might consider altering the Muslim-Muslim presidential ticket with which APC won the 2023 election.

The minister cautioned that replacing Shettima or running without a northern Muslim would pose serious political risks for APC, particularly in the core northern states, where voting patterns were deeply influenced by regional and religious considerations.

Musawa stated, “If there is no Hausa, Fulani or Kanuri Muslim on that ticket, it creates a hurdle. That is the reality of the way people think.”

She explained that politics in northern Nigeria was deeply entrenched in social identity and historical voting behaviour, stating that the region remains one of the most politically sophisticated in the country.

Musawa said, “The core north states, like Katsina, Kano, Kaduna, Kebbi, Jigawa, Zamfara and Sokoto, understand politics at a very deep level. Politics there is a way of life. People wait every four years to line up and vote because that is where they feel they have influence.”

“I think if we toy with changing the construct of what we have now, it is a problem. People who suggest otherwise may not fully understand how politics works in the north,” she warned.

In what seems a deep seated trouble for the minister, the APC has expressed its discomfort for Musawa’s “Talking too much.”

In a statement signed by Felix Morka, APC National Publicity Secretary, the party described Musawa’s remarks and comments by others on the basis of 2027 Vice Presidential ticket as “Purely speculative, untrue and utterly baseless.”

The party went further to issue warning to the minister and others who are currently engaged in “speculative” endeavours.

“We call on our ministers, senior government and Party officials to avoid, wittingly or unwittingly, stoking needless speculations, and to focus on their primary duty of diligent service to government and our Party.”

The statement titled “End Needless Speculations On APC 2027 Presidential Running Mate” reads in full:

Our attention has been drawn to growing media frenzy about possible replacement of Vice President Kashim Shettima as the running mate to President Bola Tinubu under the platform of our great Party ahead of the 2027 General Elections.

While these stories have been mostly subtle, they recently assumed a new dimension when names of specific individuals were touted as possible replacement for Vice President Shettima.

Our Party states in categorical terms that the stories are purely speculative,
