HARVEST OF AWARDS AS UBULU EZEMU HONOURS OUTSTANDING INDIGENES AT UBULU UKU

It was a harvest of awards and honours for some Ubulu-Uku indigenes who have demonstrated excellence in certain areas of human endeavours.
The awards were presented to the winners at the 4th edition of Ubulu Ezemu Award 2023 which was held on 26th December, 2023 at Viva Hotel, Ubulu Uku.
Renowned scholar, Dr Jude Iyitor emerged winner as “Youth Development Icon of The Year 2023” for his contributions to Udo and Ubulu Uku youths towards their wellbeing and empowerment. His award presented by Mr Kingsley Nnamdi Nwami was received on his behalf by veteran journalist, Mr Frank Oshanugor.
Also, the General Secretary of Ubulu-Uku Kingdom Decendants’ Central Union (UDC), Mr Godwin Nwafor Mordi won the “Community Development Icon of The Year 2023” for his giant strides in community development both at Isho quarters and Ubulu-Uku as a whole.
Isioma Akamagwuna Foundation was honoured as “Foundation Leader of The Year 2023” for the foundation’s remarkable achievements in charity and philanthropic activities in Ubulu Uku.
In the same vein, Doris Amaka Ochei Foundation (DAO) was recognised with “Ubulu Ezemu Humanitarian Award of Excellence 2023” for the foundation’s efforts to promote humanity both at Ubulu-Uku and other parts of the country.
In the sports category, Mr Peter Onyeisi Nwaefulu and Prince Kobikwu Obanor were decorated as “Sports Personality of The Year 2023” and “Sports Promoter of The Year 2023” respectively.
Mr Kingsley Nwami, a United States-based illustrious son went home with the prestigious award: “Charity Personality of The Year 2023 for his charity works at his hometown, Ubulu-Uku and abroad”.
Others who bagged different categories of awards include: Mr Azuh Chike Emmanuel (Teacher of the Year 2023) and Mr Henry Awele Udeh (Ubulu-Uku Ambassador of The Year 2023).
The event was well attended by very important personalities from Ubulu-Uku and beyond, including: community leaders, chiefs, students, Ubulu Ezemu fans, friends and well wishers
Speaking on the awards, Nwami who flew from United States to grace the ocassion, said the award ceremony has come to stay, having survived many of showcasing outstanding awardees.
Nwami applauded the Convener of the Award, Mr Anthony Awunor for instituting the award, urging him to continue the good work.
In his remark, Mr Udeh said “It is a great honour to receive this Ubulu Ezemu Award. I didn’t expect but someone nominated me and I am glad receiving the prestigious Ubulu Ezemu Award.
Prince Obanor equally thanked the organisers of the Award for finding him worthy as Sports Promoter of the Year.
In his speech, Awunor said the awardees have shown sheer patriotism, forthrightness, diligence and sacrifice, despite the myriad of socio-economic bottlenecks and decaying moral decadence in our society.
The set of these personalities in this perspective are the select recipients of Ubulu Ezemu Awards 2023.
“They have relentlessly made positive achievements through legitimate efforts to enhance various aspects of our communal life. We implore our award recipients to continue to trail the blaze positively as you have been known for.
” Note that this honour is rare, as it won’t be bestowed on just “anybody” but men and women of value.
On our own part, Ubulu Ezemu as a media channel is determined to provide robust information dissemination that would foster good relationship among our people, community, local government, State and Nigeria as a whole”, Awunor added.
