GOCOP’s 10th Annual Conference Begins October 8

OpenLife News reports that the Guild of Corporate Online Publishers (GOCOP) has listed the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC), Nigeria LNG Limited (NLNG), Nigeria Customs Service and Dangote Group among partners for its 10th annual conference.

GOCOP Publicity Secretary, Ms Kemi Yesufu, disclosed this in a statement on Monday in Abuja.She said other partners include the Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB), Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC), Bank of Industry (BoI), National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) and Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC).

Private sector supporters also include TAJBank, Emadeb Energy, Setraco Limited, Sovereign Trust Insurance and Nestlé Nigeria Plc.The conference is scheduled for 10 a.m. on Thursday, October 8, 2026, at Radisson Blu Hotel, 38-40 Isaac John Street, Ikeja GRA, Lagos, with the theme: “2027 Elections: Trust, Transparency and Shared Responsibilities.”

Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Prof. Joash Ojo Amupitan, SAN, will deliver the keynote address, while Founding Partner of Olisa Agbakoba Legal (OAL) and former President of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), Dr. Olisa Agbakoba, SAN, will chair the conference.

Panellists include CP Abayomi Shogunle, Commissioner of Police, Election Planning, Monitoring and Evaluation, Force Headquarters, Abuja; Prof. Tayo Popoola, Head, Department of Mass Communication, University of Lagos; Adaora Onyechere Sydney-Jack, Creative Director, Gender Agenda and Founder, WEWE Network Afrique; and Lanre Arogundade, Executive Director, International Press Centre.

Chairman of the Conference Planning Committee and Deputy President of GOCOP, Olumide Iyanda, expressed appreciation to the sponsors.“We sincerely appreciate our sponsors and partners for their confidence in GOCOP and for recognising the importance of supporting credible conversations around Nigeria’s media industry, democracy and national development. Iyanda said the support from public and private sector organisations would help the Guild deliver a successful 10th edition.

The conference will interrogate the roles of electoral institutions, political actors, security agencies, the media, civil society and citizens in strengthening public confidence in the electoral process ahead of the 2027 general elections.

GOCOP is a business membership organisation of 127 online publications whose members are media entrepreneurs operating digital publishing businesses across Nigeria.
