Major General Bashir Salihi Magashi, ret’d, the Minister of Defence has tasked newly-promoted officers on professionalism
The Minister made this remark after performing the ceremonial decorations of two newly promoted officers in the Ministry.
He, thereafter, reminded the officers that promotions are sufficient encouragement for more dedication to national duties.
In addition, Magashi sued for commitment to military duties.
The officers are Lieutenant Commander Osahon Junior Osagie and the Platoon Commander, Ministry of Defence, Provost Company, Captain Fausilat Bukola Salami
He told the newly decorated officers to see their elevations as wake -up calls to higher responsibilities in service to the nation.
Magashi added that the promotion is a foundation rank in their career progression. “As a Commissioned Officer in the Nigerian Army, we saw promotions as foundational rank in our career progressions. That prepared us for generalship,” he said.
He emphasized professionalism as watchword which requires total commitments, loyalty and respect for seniority in the discharge of assigned duties.
In his remarks, Principal General Staff Officer to the Minister, Brigadier General Auwal Fage, tasked the officers on ethics compliance, hard work and integrity.
Sab’iu Zakari, the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry also admonished them to carry out their duties with fears of God.
“Justify your promotions through enhanced initiatives and robust service delivery to the Nigerian Armed Forces.”
Lieutenant Commander Osagie remarked, on behalf of the newly decorated colleague, that the promotion would motivate them to do more.
Osagie expressed loyalty to the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, President Buhari, and thanked General Bashir Magashi for his supports.
Directors and other senior officers in the Ministry witnessed the decoration ceremony.
On the other hand, family members were also available to felicitate with the promoted officers.
