Fresh Clarifications On Sunday Igboho’s Health
OpenLife Nigeria reports that amidst growing anxieties over the health situation of Yoruba Nation agitator, Sunday Igboho which has gained currency worldwide, there are fresh revelations about the true state of his health.
Earlier, there were news reports to the effect that Sunday Igboho has been reportedly diagnosed with possible kidney or lungs illness.
According to the story, one of his lawyers, Yomi Aliyyu, made the disclosure in an interview with BBC Yoruba. He noted that the rights activist developed the illness in Benin Republic prison custody and that the agitator has also been critically ill and rushed to the hospital for treatment.
However, in fresh clarifications through a brief chat with OpenLife on Wednesday afternoon, a leading Yoruba persona who can be credited with authentic information on the grounds of his closeness to all the activities around Igboho said he is not aware he has been taken to the hospital as credited to his lawyer.
He maintained that Sunday Igboho is sick but he has not been taken or rushed to the hospital as being reported in the media space.
During the exclusive interview with OpenLife, the source said:
“Has he been taken to the hospital?” He asked rhetorically asserting that he is not sure about the hospital narrative. He stressed that if he has either been taken or rushed to the hospital, he is in a position to know.
The source who however requested not to be named added:
“The update on the situation is that he is still in the custody of the Beninese government. It is the lawyer that is saying he is not feeling fine.
“He has never been admitted in any hospital. He is still in their custody. He has not been admitted into any hospital,” he revealed
It would be recalled that the home of the pro-Yoruba self-determination activist was invaded by men from DSS about 1:30am on July 1, 2021, leading to the arrest of 12 of his aides, while Igboho managed to escape arrest.
Igboho was later arrested in Cotonou, Benin Republic, on July 16, 2021, with his wife, while travelling to Germany and has since then been in detention.
