<p><a href&equals;"http&colon;&sol;&sol;OpenLife&period;ng"><strong>Former president of Nigeria has died&period;<&sol;strong><&sol;a><&sol;p>&NewLine;<p><strong>Chief <a href&equals;"http&colon;&sol;&sol;OpenLife&period;ng">Ernest Shonekan<&sol;a> who headed the Interim National Government that succeeded the junta of <a href&equals;"http&colon;&sol;&sol;OpenLife&period;ng">General Ibrahim Babangida<&sol;a>&comma; has died&period;<&sol;strong><&sol;p>&NewLine;<p><img class&equals;"alignnone size-medium wp-image-12202" src&equals;"https&colon;&sol;&sol;openlife&period;ng&sol;wp-content&sol;uploads&sol;2022&sol;01&sol;Ernest-Shonekan-1424x802-1-300x169&period;jpg" alt&equals;"" width&equals;"300" height&equals;"169" &sol;><&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>Late Ernest Shonekan<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>The Ogun High Chief died on Tuesday morning at Evercare hospital in Lekki area of Lagos State after a brief illness&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>He was aged 85&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>He was the interim head of the Nigerian Government between August 26 and November 17 1993 when he was ousted in a coup led by late General Sani Abacha&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>He was a former chairman of UAC and its first Nigerian Managing Director&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>Shonekan was a British-trained Nigerian lawyer and industrialist&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>He is survived by his wife&comma; Margaret Shonekan and children&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;
