Former President, Ohanaeze Ndigbo Lagos, Chief Solomon Aguene, Thanks Dave Umahi For His Support For His October 10 Country Home Opening And Parents Remembrance
OpenLife News reports that former President of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, Lagos State chapter, Chief Solomon Ogbonna Aguene, has expressed profound gratitude to the Honourable Minister of Works, Senator David Umahi, for his support towards the official opening of his country home and memorial in honour of his late parents scheduled for October 10, 2026 in Onicha Igboeze, Onicha Local Government Area, Ebonyi State.
The Saturday, October 10 event, serves a double purpose which includes the formal opening of his new massive country home and an official memorial service to honour his late parents.
The double celebrations, which will hold at new Aguene’s country home in Ebonyi State, is expected to attract prominent Igbo leaders, captains of industry, political stakeholders, traditional rulers, and members of Ohanaeze Ndigbo from across Lagos and the South-East.
Speaking in an exclusive chat Thursday morning with OpenLife, Chief Aguene described Senator Dave Umahi as a true brother, genuine leader and a detribalized Nigerian who has consistently shown uncommon love and support for Ndigbo both at home and in the diaspora.
According to him, the intervention and moral support of the Minister of Works towards the success of the October 10 event underscores his respect for Igbo culture, family values and the spirit of brotherhood.
“I want to specially thank my elder brother, my leader, authentic Igbo leader, performing minister of the federal republic of Nigeria and our proud son, His Excellency, Engineer, Senator David Umahi, the Honourable Minister of Works, for his fatherly support and encouragement towards the opening of my new country home and the remembrance of my beloved parents on October 10,” Chief Aguene said.
“This is a very emotional and historic moment for me and my family, as we honour the legacies of my late parents who sacrificed so much for us.
“To have a man of Umahi’s stature stand by us is a great honour I will never take for granted. As a governor, Umahi turned Ebonyi state the flagship of developments across sectors and infrastructural renewal. The records are there with visible evidence for everyone to see.
“As a minister, he doesn’t stay in office. Umahi is on the road 2/47 overseeing projects to ensure they meet required standards. His administrative legacies are forever which subsequent administrations will continue to build upon.
“He remains the indisputable Ebonyi leader with capacity and a son every Ndigbo is proud of. Umahi is a humanist, to say the least.”
Chief Aguene noted that the remembrance is not just about his family, but a celebration of Igbo values of respect for parents, love for homeland, and keeping family heritage alive.
He said preparations are in top gear to host dignitaries from all walks of life, adding that the event will also serve as a homecoming and cultural reunion for Ndigbo.
The former Ohanaeze Lagos President further prayed for God’s continued wisdom and strength for Senator Umahi as he continues to deliver on his mandate as Minister of Works and contribute to national development.
The October 10 event is expected to feature traditional blessings, laying of wreaths in memory of his late parents, and reception of guests at his newly built country home.
