FG reacts to arrest of bandits negotiator, Mamu in Egypt

The Federal Government has distanced self from the arrest of Alhaji Tukur Mamu, lead negotiator between bandits and the passengers kidnapped from a Kaduna-bound train in March.

Openlife Nigeria reports that Mamu who is also the publisher of Desert Herald Newspaper in Kaduna was arrested on his way to Saudi Arabia for lesser Hajj.

He was detained at the Cairo International Airport for 24 hours and is being repatriated back to Nigeria.

Reacting to the development, Minister of information and Culture Lai Mohammed distanced the federal government from the arrest of the lead negotiator.

Mohammed said this while responding to questions from State house correspondents at the end of the weekly meeting of the executive council of the federal government on Wednesday.
