OpenLife Nigeria reports that Senator Osariemiem Osunbor has paid glowing tribute to late Esogban of Benin kingdom, Chief David Edebiri,who transited the great beyond on the 20th of July 2023 at the ripe age 93.
Professor Osunbor who governed the state between May 2007 to November 2008, spoke at the residence of the late Chief on Saturday when he paid a condolence visit to the family.
Addressing the children and family members, the former governor described the late Esogban as an icon and epitome personality who Edo State will miss saying that the Esogban was full of experience both traditionally and politically.
He stated that his counsel benefited Edo people and Nigerian at large.
According to him, I spoke with the Esogban in May and earlier visited him early in the year and he offered me advice and was just planning another visit when I heard the news of his demise. He looked strong and healthy when I visited him and in May when I put a call across to him, he sounded coherent and full of life. But little did I know I was speaking to him for the last time. May his soul rest in peace, Osunbor prayed.
Responding, the eldest son of the Chief, Pastor Collins Esogban thanked the former governor for coming to commiserate with the family describing his father’s death as a huge loss. He said that his father spoke glowingly of him and prayed to God for his party to give him right of first refusal when the time comes for the election.
Professor Osunbor who pledged to be around when the burial rites commences, signed the condolence register which has been opened for visitors.
