OpenLife Nigeria reports that the Emir of Ilorin and Chairman Kwara State Traditional Rulers Council, Mai-Martaba Alhaji (Dr) Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari CFR, has described the demise of Justice Ahmad Olarewaju Belgore (rtd) as a big loss to the Ilorin Emirate and nation at large.
While reacting to the unfortunate incidence as contained in a statement issued by his spokesman, Mallam Abdulazeez Arowona, the Emir said, “This is a great and colossal loss that has befell the Ilorin Emirate and humanity at large. ”
“Inna ilaihi waina ilaehi raji’un, it is with shock that I received the news of the demise of Justice Ahmad Belgore.
“He was a complete gentleman, a thorough Justice who served the nation meritoriously in various capacities and nationally and internationally.
“He was one of the finest Justices that the Ilorin Emirate has ever produced. He contributed in no small measures to the growth development of the judiciary and humanity in general.”
The Emir however commiserates with the entire Belgore’s family, immediate and extended family members of the deceased as well as the entire people of Ilorin and Nigerians in general over the great loss.
He prays that Almighty Allah accept his good deeds, forgive his shortcomings and admit him into Al-janatul firdaos.
The Emir has also urged Muslim ummah to continue to be thankful to Almighty Allah for His mercies and protections over them.
He noted that despite all the challenges facing the nation, the people of Ilorin Emirate are living in peace and harmony without rancour, “which necessitates us to remain grateful and prayerful always.”
The monarch stated this in his Sallah message to the people of Ilorin Emirate and beyond delivered at the Ilorin Central Eid praying ground marking the 2024 Eid-el-Fitr celebration.
The prayer was led by the Chief Imam of Ilorin, Dr Muhammad Bashir Imam-Solih, OON, at exactly 9am with state government functionaries led by the Speaker of the Kwara State House of Assembly, Hon. Yakubu Salihu Danladi and the Chief of Staff to the Governor, Alhaji Mahe Abdulkadir.
He also condemned the act of kidnapping and other social vices persisting in the nation and advised citizens to always support leaders with fervent prayers and obedience in order to deliver on their mandates.
Alhaji Sulu-Gambari also sued for support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Governor Abdulrahaman and advised worshippers to always conduct themselves peacefully and desist from overheating the polity stressing that Eid praying ground should not be turned battle field or arena for political engagements .
In his sermon, the Chief of Imam of Ilorin, Dr Muhammad Bashir Imam-Solih OON shortly after the two rakat prayer urged Muslim faithful to remain committed the commandments of Almighty Allah at all times.
He urged Muslims to be conscious of the fact only Almighty Allah can determine who will witness the next Ramadan and advised them to remain dutiful to Allah by obeying his commandment of good deeds and shunning act capable of earning His anger of any kind.
The cleric also prayed for peaceful co-existence across the world especially in Nigeria even as he prayed for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq for a successful tenure in office to the benefit of the entire citizens of the state and nation in general.
