El-Zakzaky: Long Road To Freedom

El-Zakzaky faces fresh hurdles
OpenLife Nigeria reports that despite the freedom granted the leader of the Islamic Movement of Nigeria, Ibrahim El-zakzaky and his wife, Zeenat by a Kaduna State High Court on July 28, the embattled senior Islamic leader may not breadth the air of freedom after all.
Signal to these effects emerged on Friday when the Kaduna State government filed fresh terrorism charges against Sheikh Ibraheem El-Zakzaky.
The state government said it will also appeal the recent ruling of the Kaduna state High Court which discharged and acquitted El-Zakzaky and his wife, Zeenat.
Kaduna state Director of Public Prosecution Mr. Dari Bayero disclosed this in an interview with journalists on Friday.
He said the terrorism case was filed at the Federal High Court, Kaduna on July 26.
Bayero said the case will be prosecuted by the Federal and Kaduna state governments.
He said El-Zakzaky who was discharged and acquitted by a Kaduna state High Court on charges of culpable homicide among others is being charged under the Terrorism Act 2013.
“The federal ministry of Justice will send a team to come and prosecute with us”, Bayero said.
It would be recalled that El-Zakzaky was arrested by the military on December 14, 2015, after a clash between the movement and officers of the Nigerian army which resulted in the death of at least 347 members of the group.
A soldier, Corporal Yakuku Dankaduna who was allegedly murdered, was said to be in the convoy of the former Chief of Army Staff, Tukur Buratai, during the December 2015 bloody clash between Shi’ites and the soldiers in the convoy in Zaria, Kaduna State.
