OpenLife Nigeria reports that following Peter Obi’s humility and respect for Atiku Abubakar, the presidential candidate of the People’s Democratic Party, PDP, at the Nigerian Bar Association, NBA, annual conference at Eko Hotel recently, some folks had gone to town with stories to the effect that Peter Obi, the Labour Party candidate in the 2023 presidential contest, may have struck a deal with Atiku to step down.Those who are close to Peter Obi have consistently maintained that humility is Obi’s second nature. They aver that the respect the Labour Party candidate extended to Atiku was just an extension of his politics without bitterness. However, on Wednesday afternoon, Doyin Okukpe, an ally of Obi clarified the situation as presented below unedited

I hereby categorically refute the false statement, making the rounds, that Peter Obi has made any deal with Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, the Presidential candidate of the PDP, with respect to the 2023 Presidential elections. By the Grace of God and the massive acceptance and support of the Nigerian people, home and abroad, and especially the youths, Obi is far ahead of all other presidential candidates in the country.
He therefore cannot, logically, be negotiating with any other less popular candidates or their parties.
Members of the public are hereby advised to ignore this cheap, self serving and distracting propaganda, which we also believe is not coming from the Atiku camp.
