Ehi Ogbebor, Nigerian Socialite And Interior Designer, Reveals Why Her Two Marriages Crashed, Urges Women To Walk Away From Toxic Relationships

Ehi Ogbebor

OpenLife Nigeria reports that a successful interior designer whose two marriages failed has admonished women to walk out of marriages that are not working.

In a video shared on her Instagram page, the 38-year-old detailed her traumatic first marriage, which began when she was just 18.

The Nigerian socialite who once dated NURTW chieftain, MC Oluomo said:

“I got married at 18, and by 20 I was out. I almost lost my son to a deranged, abusive marriage at five or six months. I left in 2007; my son was just 10 months old, and I was only 20 when I ran to Lagos,” she said.
Ogbebor coined the term “Mumuraige” to describe the emotional toll on women who lose themselves trying to save a failing union.

“You see a woman with so much to give becoming mentally destabilised because she’s trying to save a marriage for a man who will never appreciate her,” she said.
The interior designer said what prompted her to speak out was a distressing call from a friend who spent 18 years in a troubled marriage.

“It is painful. A man she stayed with for 18 years just woke up one day and said he was no longer interested. A man who cannot even afford to take care of his family,” she said.

While affirming that marriage can be beautiful, she stressed the critical importance of self-worth and recognising when a relationship has reached a dead end.

“I have been married twice. I’m not saying run at the first issue, but women need to know when a marriage is at a deadlock. I’m not saying run anytime you have an issue, but you need to have a brain. You need to learn to stand up and face them,” she said.

“Don’t allow these men to just think you’re a piece of trash and just talk down on you. You’re going to look like a weak mother. Don’t waste 10 years, or 17 years of your life. Who told you your soulmate is not one billionaire in Saudi Arabia or in the south of France.”

In January 2021, Ogbegor announced she was dating Musiliu ‘MC Oluomo‘ Akinsanya, the national president of the NURTW. The relationship later hit the rock.

There relationship around 2021 was confirmed through social media posts, public appearances, and her visits to his office.

Although they eventually parted ways, they have maintained a friendly, cordial relationship.
