<p><strong>The <a href="http://OpenLife.ng">Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC)</a> has arrested a former governor of Edo State, <a href="http://Openlife.ng">Lucky Igbinedion</a>.</strong></p>
<p>Igbinedion who is currently in the EFCC&#8217;s headquarters in Jabi, Abuja is being grilled over diversion of public funds to the tune of N1.6 billion.</p>
<p>The former governor who was convicted of corruption in 2007 after his tenure, is said to have diverted a loan obtained by the Edo State government to settle the financial indebtedness of a company in which he was said to have an interest.</p>
<p>Spokesperson for the anti-graft agency, Wilson Uwujaren, confirmed the development.</p>
<p>In 2008, Igbinedion was prosecuted and sentenced to six months’ imprisonment with an option of N3.5 million fine for embezzling N2.9 billion belonging to Edo state.</p>
