Economic Revival
OpenLife Nigeria reports that the presidential candidate of the Labour Party, LP, Mr. Peter Obi, has commenced the implementation of his campaign mantra “From Consumption to Production.”
The presidential candidate had assured Nigerians , during campaigns, that the prevailing economic realities wherein the country cannot produce what its citizens consume was retrogressive in its entirety, promising that he would reverse the trend.
Obi explained that until Nigeria begins to tap into its abundant human and material resources to produce significant percentage of its consumption ratio, the country’s Gross Domestic Product, GDP, and other economic indicators will remain discouraging to foreign investors.
The election held on February 25 and the former Anambra State governor is currently in court to reclaim his mandate which he said has been wrongly given to the All Progressives Congress, APC, Obi.
However, on Thursday, Obi disclosed to Nigerians, during a press conference, about his encounter with a young lady who needed money to purchase baking machine to commence her entrepreneurial drive.
Obi shed tears during the narrative, an indication of his feeling about the discouraging trends to economic growth through vibrant entrepreneurial engagements.
Saturday evening, Obi announced, on his Facebook wall, that he has given an undisclosed sum to the lady to commence her baking business, thereby kick-starting his campaign mantra of moving Nigeria from being a consuming country to a productive country.
Obi wrote: Today, I fulfilled my pledge to assist Ms Gimba Sophia Emmanuel in her aspiration to acquire an oven to start her baking and confectionery business.
Interestingly, she has indicated that she would procure a Nigerian made oven, this, enhancing the value chain and putting into effect the consumption to production mantra
