Ebonyi Leaders Confer IPHORO (ONWA) Title On Chief Solomon Ogbonna Aguene, President Ohanaeze Ndigbo Lagos

Ebonyi Leaders Confer IPHORO

OpenLife Nigeria reports that yesterday, July 17, 2025, Eze Ndigbo in Ikorodu conferred the title of IPHORO (ONWA) on Chief Solomon Ogbonna Aguene, President, Ohanaeze Ndigbo Lagos.
The ONWA title means light of Ebonyi people in Lagos.

The conferment was led by Eze Austin Nwa Ego, the Eze Ndigbo of Ikorodu, Lagos.

The ceremony attracted prominent Ebonyians including the President of Ebonyi State Town Union, Chief Innocent Nwangbo.

A leader after God’s Heart, attendees were unanimous in describing Chief Solomon Ogbonna Aguene as one Ebonyian who is empathetic and compassionate towards humans.

“He is a leader with great aura, wisdom, humility and class,” they said.

Continuing, they said “Your conferment as IPHORO (ONWA) Ebonyi in Lagos yesterday at Ikorodu, was a testimony of your hard works and cares for the less privilege in our society.

“May God in His infinite mercies continually bless you with wisdom, knowledge and understanding as you are a source of unity and exemplary leader in your unprecedented contributions to Ebonyi people and Ndigbo in Lagos.

“It is our Hope that with visionary leaders like you, Ndigbo shall attain the desired development and greatness we all crave for,” they prayed.

It will be recalled that Ohanaeze Ndigbo, the apex Igbo socio cultural organization, was founded by an Ebonyi man, Sir Akanu Ibiam, a distinguished medical missionary who was appointed Governor of Eastern Region, Nigeria from December 1960 until January 1966 during the Nigerian First Republic.

Taking after the footsteps of Sir Akanu Ibiam, Chief Solomon Ogbonna Aguene has oxygenized Ohanaeze Ndigbo Lagos since becoming the President in 2018 through quality and humanist leadership.

He has widened the space for Ebonyians in Lagos through physical and visible showings as well as active participation in Igbo activities in Lagos.

Just few years ago, Chief Aguene selected 13 indigenes of Ebonyi State and crowned them with Eze titles in their respective areas of residence.
