The Department of State Service, DSS, has blamed the after match attack and chaos that erupted at the Moshood Abiola Stadium, Abuja on the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB.
There was an attack at the Abuja Stadium, yesterday, shortly after the match between the Super Eagles of Nigeria and Black Stars of Ghana ended in 1-1 draw, which Ghana qualify through away goal tiebreaker.
However, shortly after the match, there was chaos which caused stampedes in the stadium as aggrieved fans were seen destroying properties in the stadium.
Before the match, the Department of State Service, DSS, had written a memo, alerting the Presidency of the impending attack at the stadium.
In the memo, which was shared by an Investigative Journalist, David Hundeyin, it indicated that the members of the IPOB are planning an attack at the stadium because President Muhammadu Buhari and other high-profile Nigerians will be at the stadium, to cheer the Eagles.
The DSS said the main aim of the attack by the group is to “cause maximum casualty and embarrassment to the Government, thereby drawing local and international attention to the secessionist agenda of the dissident group.”
