DSS reveals those behind attack in Abuja stadium

<p><strong>The <a href&equals;"http&colon;&sol;&sol;Openlife&period;ng">Department of State Service&comma; DSS<&sol;a>&comma; has blamed the after match attack and chaos that erupted at the Moshood Abiola Stadium&comma; Abuja on the <a href&equals;"http&colon;&sol;&sol;Openlife&period;ng">Indigenous People of Biafra&comma; IPOB&period; <&sol;a><&sol;strong><&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>There was an attack at the <a href&equals;"https&colon;&sol;&sol;openlife&period;ng&sol;nigeria-vs-ghana-top-official-killed-in-abuja-stadium-photo&sol;">Abuja Stadium&comma; yesterday&comma; shortly after the match between the Super Eagles of Nigeria and Black Stars of Ghana ended in 1-1 draw&comma; which Ghana qualify through away goal tiebreaker&period; <&sol;a><&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>However&comma; shortly after the match&comma; there was chaos which caused stampedes in the stadium as aggrieved fans were seen destroying properties in the stadium&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<h1><a href&equals;"https&colon;&sol;&sol;openlife&period;ng&sol;nigeria-vs-ghana-top-official-killed-in-abuja-stadium-photo&sol;"><span style&equals;"color&colon; &num;00ff00&semi;">Nigeria Vs Ghana&colon; CAF Official Killed In Abuja Stadium &lpar;PHOTO&rpar;<&sol;span><&sol;a><&sol;h1>&NewLine;<p>Before the match&comma; the Department of State Service&comma; DSS&comma; had written a memo&comma; alerting the Presidency of the impending attack at the stadium&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>In the memo&comma; which was shared by an Investigative Journalist&comma; David Hundeyin&comma; it indicated that the members of the IPOB are planning an attack at the stadium because President Muhammadu Buhari and other high-profile Nigerians will be at the stadium&comma; to cheer the Eagles&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>The DSS said the main aim of the attack by the group is to &OpenCurlyDoubleQuote;cause maximum casualty and embarrassment to the Government&comma; thereby drawing local and international attention to the secessionist agenda of the dissident group&period;”<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>Read the full memo below&colon; <em><strong>IMMINENT THREAT OF EXPLOSIVE ATTACK ON M&period;K&period;O ABIOLA NATIONAL STADIUM BY IPOB <&sol;strong><&sol;em><&sol;p>&NewLine;<p><em><strong>1&period; Intelligence available to the Service indicate imminent attack on M&period;K&period;O Abiola National Stadium&comma; Abuja by members of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra &lpar;IPOB&rpar; using prime improvised explosive devices on 29th March&comma; 2022&period; <&sol;strong><&sol;em><&sol;p>&NewLine;<p><em><strong>The attack was hatched to target the return world cup qualifiers match between Nigeria and Ghana&comma; aimed at causing maximum casualty and embarrassment to the Government&comma; thereby drawing local and international attention to the secessionist agenda of the dissident group&period;<&sol;strong><&sol;em><&sol;p>&NewLine;<p><em><strong> 2&period; In view of the foregoing coupled with the planned attendance of President Muhammadu Buhari &lpar;GCFR&rpar; and other important dignitaries to honour the national team&comma; there is the need for adequate deployment of counter security measures before and during the slated match with a view to preventing&comma; detecting and neutralizing the threats&period; <&sol;strong><&sol;em><&sol;p>&NewLine;<p><em><strong>3&period; The foregoing is forwarded for your kind information and necessary action&comma; please&period; <&sol;strong><&sol;em><&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>&nbsp&semi;<&sol;p>&NewLine;
