Doyin Okupe, a former Director General of the Peter Obi/Datti Presidential Campaign, was arrested by the Department of State Security Services (DSS) at the Muritala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos.
According to one of Okupe’s lawyers, Tolu Babaleye, the arrest occurred as Okupe was on his way to London.
The lawyer stated that Okupe was asked to produce evidence that the Federal High Court in Abuja had cleared him in a case in which he had been convicted and fined.
Babaleye expressed concern about the harassment of Okupe and called for his immediate release, arguing that the arrest violates his freedom of movement, right to liberty, and dignity as a human being.
He also mentioned that Okupe’s health is rapidly deteriorating.
