Delta Youth Commissioner Commends Governor Okowa

Delta Youth Commissioner has commended Governor Okowa.

 

OpenLife Nigeria reports that Delta Youth Development Commissioner, Comrade Ifeanyi Egwunyenga, has commended Governor Okowa for policies towards youth developments.

 

Comrade Egwunyenga gave the commendation at a town hall meeting organised to engage youths in the state at Unity Hall, Government House, Asaba.
The governor had approved an interactive session for youths in the 16-Councils in Delta Central and South Senatorial Districts.

Speaking at the meeting, Egwunyenga emphasized the place of youths in the social and economic development of the country.

 

He said that the meeting was organised as a fallout of the youth agitation. The Commissioner stressed the need to motivate youth to positively play a part in nation-building at this critical period.

 

The meeting had representative from #ENDSARS group and a member of the judicial panel of enquiry, Mr Harrison Ewamnishu, representative of Aniocha/Oshimili Ethnic Nationality, Mr Austin Okorodudu; representative of Ika Ethnic Group, Comrade Marvin Enyosa; representative of Ndokwa Ethnic Group, Mr Anslem Nzete; representative of Community Youths of Aniocha/Oshimili, Mr Felix Eboh.

 

Others are the representative of civil society organization, Elder Okezie Odughala; representing female advocacy group, Mr Benedicta Apuama and the representative of the student community, Comrade Ufuoma Ehorhihe.

 

They lamented the high rate of police brutality on youths, the non inclusion of youth in the decision process as regards nation-building, nonrecognition for youth at grass root levels, as well as the little percentage of women representatives in government.

 

They called on the state government to include the youths in its activities, as well in the decision making of the state government as it related to youth development.

They nevertheless commended some of the developmental strides of the state governor.
