Delta State Commissioner for Education, Patrick Ukah, has begun an on-the-spot assessment tour around schools in Delta this week.
This followed the directive of governor Ifeanyi Okowa to schools to resume in the State.
The Honourable Commissioner’s tour is to ensure all safety mechanism are in place in all the schools in Delta State.
“Our primary schools will be resuming this week. I will be on tour to see things for myself especially COVID-19 rules compliance,” he said.
Meanwhile, the Education Secretary of Okpe Local Government, Mrs Mabel Ometan, has commended the Delta State Government for directing the resumption of pupils in primary six.
Ometan made the commendation in Orerokpe on Monday while on a supervision tour of primary schools in the local government. She monitored the compliance of turn out of pupils, teachers and guidelines in ensuring safety against COVID-19.
She described the turn-out of teachers as impressive and praised the efforts put in place to curb the spread of the COVID-19 in ensuring the proper spacing of pupils in a class and washing of hands before entering into the school premises.
Most of the headmasters and headmistresses complained of lack of funds to clear up overgrown grasses. They pleaded with the state government to assist the schools with funds and manpower for a conducive learning environment.
