Davido Reveals The Hidden Cost Of Fame

OpenLife Nigeria reports that in a candid reflection, the award-winning artist spoke about the realities that come with global recognition, explaining that while fame has elevated his career, it has also introduced difficult situations for his family.

“I like fame, but it has its downsides,” he said.

‘My dad sends me fake blog stories, my sister changed her kid’s school due to constant disturbances over their famous uncle, and my daughter was bullied at her school just because her dad is OBO.”

His remarks paint a picture of a life where celebrity status extends beyond the individual, affecting relatives who never signed up for public attention. From dealing with misinformation circulating online to disruptions in everyday life, Davido’s family has had to adjust in ways many might not expect.

Still, his journey also carries moments of pride and strong family backing, especially from his father, whose reaction to Davido’s rise was immediate and impactful.
“When my dad heard ‘Dami Duro,’ he was overjoyed because it brought him more fame. People started calling him Baba Olowo,” Davido recalled.

That moment marked a turning point, not just in his career, but in the level of support he received at home. According to the singer, his father went beyond words of encouragement and made a major investment in his craft.

“Later on, he brought the bag! He built me a world-class studio, and since then, he hasn’t missed a single one of my concerts or shows. He’s now my biggest fan.”

Through his story, Davido presents a balanced reality of fame, where success is accompanied by both admiration and pressure. While his influence continues to grow globally, his experience shows that the impact of stardom often reaches far beyond the stage, touching family life in profound and sometimes challenging ways.
