Davido Accuses Rep James Faleke Of Pressuring INEC To Manipulate Osun Election Results

Davido Accuses Honourable James Faleke

OpenLife News reports that Afrobeats star, David Adedeji Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has accused Honourable James Faleke, Chairman House Committee on Finance, of trying to influence the outcome of the Osun State governorship election.

The singer, who is a nephew of Accord Party governorship candidate Governor Ademola Adeleke, took to his social media handles on Saturday night to call out the Kogi-born lawmaker.

Davido’s Allegation

As collation was ongoing across Osun’s 30 LGAs, Davido directly addressed Faleke, who represents Ikeja Federal Constituency in Lagos.

“Today Nah Today !! Una Don Meet Una Match!!
Hon. James Faleke, stop putting pressure on INEC to change Osun election result. Respect the wishes of Osun people. We don’t want Oyetola and AMBO,” he wrote.

The post immediately went viral, with thousands of reactions from fans and political observers monitoring the election.

Where INEC Stands As Of 8pm

According to data from the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), the Osun governorship election was held in 30 Local Government Areas, 332 registration wards and 3,763 polling units.

As of 8:06pm on Saturday, INEC had uploaded 3,119 polling unit results to its Result Viewing Portal (IReV). This represents 82.89 per cent of the total expected results, up from 2,897 results or 76.99 per cent about 45 minutes earlier.

The last upload recorded was at 8:00:34pm from Polling Unit 29/11/11/009 in Ife North Local Government Area. Collation was still ongoing across the state’s 30 local government areas.

As of the time of filing this report, INEC had uploaded 83.44 per cent of expected results to the portal.

What’s At Stake

Governor Ademola Adeleke of the Accord Party is seeking re-election. He is facing stiff competition from Bola Oyebamiji of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Najeem Salaam of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) and other candidates.

Davido has been vocal throughout the campaign, mobilizing support for his uncle in Osun East and other parts of the state.

Reactions

Faleke, a close ally of President Bola Tinubu and former DG of the APC Presidential Campaign Council, is yet to respond to Davido’s allegation as of press time.

INEC has also not commented on the claim. The commission has repeatedly assured Nigerians that results on IReV are uploaded directly from polling units and cannot be tampered with at the collation centre.

Security agencies and election observers continue to monitor the process amid heightened tension in Osogbo and other major towns.
