Crises Engulf Osun SDP Guber Primary

OpenLife Nigeria has gathered that the Social Democratic Party, SDP governorship primary election which held on March 12 in Osogbo was engulfed in crises.
Available information says the governorship candidate of the party in 2018, Engineer Iyiola Omisore, now a card carrying member of the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, infiltrated the primary election with his loyalists for the purpose of hijacking the party structure for APC gains in the upcoming governorship contest in the State.
The Osun State 2022 governorship contest is billed to hold July 16.
According to information, Razaq Adejumo, a card carrying member of APC, who was declared winner was planted into the party by Omisore.
Architect Goke Omigbodun, one of the aspirants has since rejected the result saying Bade Falade who resigned his position as SDP South West chairman since 2020 collaborated with the State chairman, Sola Oladeinde , who is alleged to be APC mole in SDP to perpetrate the fraud.
He described the election as ” kangaroo.”
Dele Ogunjubee,SDP leader, Ilesa East, in his remarks, also described the election as “full of fraud,” adding that the result remains unacceptable.
In it’s reaction, the national leadership of SDP admitted that the primary election was marred by irregularities stressing that all administrative measures have been put in place to address the development.
According to a statement signed by Barrister Joseph Abu, the party national legal adviser and chairman Osun 2022 Governorship Electoral Committee, SDP has discontenanced the result trending in the social media space purporting Razaq Adejumo as the winner of the contest.
The party stated that though the election held under the watch of the authentic committee set up by the national headquarters and officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC , the result could not be announced as a result of the “Dangerous and volatile invasion of the venue by unaccredited and non members of the party.”
The party has however, assured that the national working committee will “Brief the public” soon.
It would be recalled that OpenLife earlier reported that Honourable Rasaq Taiwo Adejumo, former Chairman, Odo-Otin Local Government Area during Governor Olagunsoye Oyinlola tenure, Architect Goke Omigbodun a clergy and Proprietor of school in Osogbo, business guru, Dr. Gbenga Afeni and auto dealer, Mr. Ajao Abdulwaheed Ayo were the cleared aspirants jostling for the SDP ticket.
