Christian Shield Group Opposes Muslim Muslim Ticket

Christian Shield Group

OpenLife News reports that Christian Shield, a Christian religion group, has added its voice to the calls against Muslim Muslim ticket as preparations for the 2027 general elections gather momentum.

The group, in a statement signed by its Acting Secretary, Apostle Comrade Moses Obayendo, explained that Muslim Muslim ticket is an insensitive step in the country’s diverse makeup, which can provoke strong political pushback and protests.

They noted that it would further destroy the fabrics of the fragile national unity.

Like other prominent Nigerians like former Reps Speaker, Rt. Hon Yakubu Dogara and former Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Engineer Babachir Lawal who have expressed their opposition to Muslim Muslim ticket on the grounds of consequential widening of the gulf between Christians and Muslims, Christian Shield argued that same Muslim faith ticket especially at the presidential level would hurt national unity.

“It is politically insensitive to go ahead with same Muslim faith ticket in 2027. It has not helped in consolidating the fragile unity of Nigeria. Rather, it is dividing the country the more.

The experience so far with President Bola Tinubu and vice president Kashim Shettima is not encouraging. The same Muslim Muslim faith ticket is not promoting cohesion in the country.

The Christians feel marginalized and we are truly marginalized. That is part of the reasons most people have lost confidence in this government and this country.

Once stakeholders lose confidence in the government, its programmes and policies will not translate to quality standard of livings. Nigeria is a multi-religious country. Therefore, the tendency to continuously sideline large segments of the population through Muslim Musim presidency can no longer be tolerated.

Muslims Muslim ticket breeds religious exclusion. It heightens social division and political tension. Therefore, those who are involved should reconsider their moves in the interest of peace and harmony in the country,” the group warned.

Criminalizing Preaching On Commercial Buses By NASS

Reacting to the recent passage by the Senate of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) Amendment Bill 2026, which seeks to amend Nigeria’s road traffic laws by criminalising preaching on commercial buses,

Christian Shield Group sees the amendment as a targeted attack on the Christian community in Nigeria.

The group maintains that it is an indirect way of trying to silence the voice of the Christians after the failed attempts through Sharia mechanism.

“Senate has not enacted laws to completely wipe out criminal activities and tendencies in vehicles during long and short travelling periods. But they see preaching as an activity that must be banned.

“This is unfortunate because these lawmakers are ignorant of how bad situation and intended criminal actions have been averted through the preachings and prayers of men of God in buses and cars during travel periods.”

“We call on President Bola Tinubu and legislators in the National Assembly to halt this law,” Christian Shield stated.
