Chief Solomon Ogbonna Aguene, President, Ohanaeze Ndigbo Lagos, Congratulates Deputy Governor Femi Hamzat On His 2027 APC’s Stakeholders’ Governorship Endorsement

President&comma; Ohanaeze Ndigbo Lagos&comma; has congratulated Lagos State Deputy Governor&comma; Dr&period; Femi Hamzat&comma; who has been unanimously endorsed by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu&comma; Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu&comma; Governance Advisory Council&comma; <a href&equals;"https&colon;&sol;&sol;www&period;vanguardngr&period;com&sol;">GAC<&sol;a> and other stakeholders as the consensus candidate of the ruling All Progressives Congress&comma; APC in the Lagos 2027 governorship&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>In a statement he personally signed and made available to newsmen on Saturday&comma; Chief Ogbonna Aguene clarified that the deputy governor is somebody he personally knows whom he described as a man with sufficient capacity to govern Lagos and move the State to greater heights from where his predecessors stopped&period;<br &sol;>&NewLine;The statement reads in part&colon;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p><em><strong>I congratulate my brother and friend&comma; His Excellency&comma; Dr&period; Femi Hamzat on the full circle endorsement he received from President Bola Ahmed Tinubu&comma; Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu and other critical stakeholders as a consensus APC candidate in the 2027 Lagos governorship election&period;<&sol;strong><&sol;em><br &sol;>&NewLine;<em><strong>Dr&period; Femi Hamzat is a man I know very well and his capacity to move Lagos State forward is not in doubt&period; He is going to do very well as the next governor of Lagos State&period;<&sol;strong><&sol;em><br &sol;>&NewLine;<em><strong>He has worked with President Bola Tinubu when he was governor of Lagos State&period;<&sol;strong><&sol;em><br &sol;>&NewLine;<em><strong>In August 2005&comma; Dr&period; Hamzat was appointed Commissioner for Science and Technology by Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu&period;<&sol;strong><&sol;em><br &sol;>&NewLine;<em><strong>As the Commissioner for Science and Technology&comma; Dr&period; Hamzat changed the face of data and record keeping in Lagos and at the same time eliminating the trend of state ghost workers&period;<&sol;strong><&sol;em><br &sol;>&NewLine;<em><strong>He worked with former governor Babatunde Fashola&period;<&sol;strong><&sol;em><br &sol;>&NewLine;<em><strong>He has been deputy governor now under governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu for almost 7 years and he has learned a lot in the process&period;<&sol;strong><&sol;em><br &sol;>&NewLine;<em><strong>So&comma; he is eminently fit for the job to succeed Governor Sanwo-Olu<&sol;strong><&sol;em><&sol;p>&NewLine;<p><em><strong>There is no doubt that Dr&period; Hamzat is going to turn Lagos to more than what we expected in terms of development &period;<&sol;strong><&sol;em><br &sol;>&NewLine;<em><strong>I have no doubt that he will do well have learned a lot from these great past governors&period;<&sol;strong><&sol;em><br &sol;>&NewLine;<em><strong>Dr&period; Hamzat is a very meticulous person&period; He is well organized&period; When I went to his home to present to him a beautiful art work&comma; his home exemplified simplicity and humility&period;<&sol;strong><&sol;em><&sol;p>&NewLine;<p><em><strong>I also congratulate governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu who has shown leadership skills by working harmoniously with deputy governor Dr&period; Hamzat&period;<&sol;strong><&sol;em><br &sol;>&NewLine;<em><strong>My prayer is that God will guild Dr&period; Hamzat to keep those of us living in Lagos happy because Lagos is already our home&period;<&sol;strong><&sol;em><br &sol;>&NewLine;<em><strong>There is no place like Lagos&period;<&sol;strong><&sol;em><br &sol;>&NewLine;<em><strong>Above all&comma; his cordial relationship with people from all tribes is amazing&period;<&sol;strong><&sol;em><br &sol;>&NewLine;<em><strong>As an advise&comma; Dr&period; Hamzat must take the security of all of us living in Lagos including his personal security seriously&period;<&sol;strong><&sol;em><&sol;p>&NewLine;<p><em><strong>Also&comma; he should endeavour to maintain his humility and respects for others&comma; both his juniors and seniors including people from other tribes&period;<&sol;strong><&sol;em><br &sol;>&NewLine;<em><strong>Those traits of humility&comma; like a descendant from Heaven&comma; have been his hallmarks which have earned him great respects from both the young and old&semi; the rich and the poor and the natives and non natives&period;<&sol;strong><&sol;em><&sol;p>&NewLine;<p><em><strong>This is very important because when some people acquire power&comma; they change automatically from what they used to be&period;<&sol;strong><&sol;em><br &sol;>&NewLine;<em><strong>But I believe that Dr&period; Hamzat will remain his humble self just the way I have always seen him as a humble person&period;<&sol;strong><&sol;em><br &sol;>&NewLine;<em><strong><a href&equals;"https&colon;&sol;&sol;openlife&period;ng&sol;">Almighty God<&sol;a> will continue to lead and guide his political journey&comma;”<&sol;strong> <&sol;em>Chief Solomon Ogbonna Aguene advised and prayed&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>&nbsp&semi;<&sol;p>&NewLine;

In 2026, in a country like Nigeria, s+xual har+ssment is still one of the most passive things.” She also raised concerns about the implications of such behaviour occurring in open public spaces. “If a man can s+xually h+rass you casually during the day, what do you think he can do behind closed doors when no one is looking?”. The comments were made during an interview with Tolu Afilaka, where she discussed women’s safety in public areas of Lagos.
