CDHR Decries Multiple Attacks In Plateau Communities

 

 

OpenLife Nigeria reports that it was a black Christmas celebration for the people of Bokkos Local Government Area of Plateau as they woke up to experience multiple attacks from armed bandits.

 

The attacks resulted in the death of over 100 persons, scores of people missing and 221 houses razed down.

 

The ugly incident occurred at early hours on Monday 25th December across many communities in Bokkos and Barkin Ladi Local Governments.

 

According to a source, the armed bandits razed down the villages completely making the villages completely deserted.

 

The incidence was confirmed the Plateau State Police Command and has since commenced investigation to unraveld the scenario surrounding the incident.

 

CDHR, however, condemned in totality the avoidable attacks and the loss of innocent Nigerians, the organisation decried that the incident was as a result of failure of intelligence and defence systems of the security apparatus.

 

In a statement jointly signed by Comrade Debo Adeniran, National President and Comrade Idris Afees Olayinka, National Publicity Secretary, CDHR Nigeria said that people cannot afford to continue to lose their lives in droves due to government negligence and operational laxity.

 

CDHR employs the governments at all levels to recruit and equip trusted locals for intelligence gathering, increased police presence and provide local vigilantes with defence equipment and requisite training to enable the first responders curtail the marauders before reinforcements arrive from other security force.

 

The organization charges the federal government to investigate the incident, unraveld the scenario surrounding the ugly event and brought the perpetrators to book.
