CAN Goes Against Tinubu

OpenLife Nigeria has obtained a list containing terms and conditions for Christian members to watch out for before casting vote on February 25, 2023 especially for presidential candidates
The list was revealed by Pastor Sarah Omakwu.
Pastor Sarah Omakwu is the Senior Pastor of Family Worship Centre, FWC.
The church is headquartered in Abuja.
The terms and conditions were itemized under four sub headings namely: Character, Competence, Capacity and Policy.
Amongst the terms and conditions listed by the
Christian Association of Nigeria, in which Christians are admonished on the presidential candidate to consider in next year’s election are:
The presidential candidate must not be a fanatic or have relationship with Boko Haram group.
There must be accessible records of quality performance of the candidate in previous positions as well as quality education to manage a complex society like Nigeria.
In addition, CAN stated that the candidate choice of members must have effective management skills of human and natural resources including capacity and ability to envision transformation.
They further stated that
ability to communicate the vision to diverse peoples and effectively execute the effects of transformations should be considered by members to achieve a better Nigeria.

Clearly, in what seems a factor that would knock the likes of Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, All Progressives Congress, APC presidential candidate and Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP candidate, off Christian votes, the association added that any candidate under consideration by Christians must be in good health, sound mind and physically fit for the rigours of presidential task.

The body stressed that the candidate must be disposed to state police with deep implementable policies for respect for fundamental human rights of all Nigerians as well as restructure the system for good governance.

“The presidential choice must be someone who has religious neutrality
and ensure equitable sharing of all public offices including equal ethnic representation in the military,” they stated.
To the Christian Association, it is a “No” to RUGA and “Yes” to ranching emphasizing that any presidential candidate who does not support local government council’s control of local economy including rivers and forests should not be voted for by Christians.
According to Senior Pastor Sarah Omakwu, the document containing the terms and conditions and which dwelt essentially on honestly, truthfulness, clean and credible life style with no relationship with cult and crime as cardinal requirements of presidential candidate of choice, was produced by the political and strategy committee set up by the Christian Association of Nigeria
