OpenLife Nigeria reports that the Minister of State, Federal Ministry of Labour and Productivity, Festus Keyamo, SAN, has stated that President Muhammadu Buhari who addressed Nigeria on Thursday on the State of Nation, was wrongly advised by certain pronouncements in his speech which he said were not in alignment with Supreme Court judgement.
President Buhari had addressed Nigerians on Naira notes swap controversy reaffirming that 500 and 1000 bank notes are no longer legal tender.
He however, exempted N200 from the earlier ban.
Reacting during an interactive session on Channels TV Friday evening, keyamo stated that the Supreme Court had ruled on the matter which was subsisting as of the time Buhari reversed the pattern of currency swap.
“I think the president went with the best of intention but was wrongly advised.
“The Supreme Court is Supreme Court. The president is under the Supreme Court,” he said.
