OpenLife Nigeria reports that as many Nigerians gathered at the International Conference Centre, Abuja on Monday to consolidate the game plan for the actualization of Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s 2023 presidential aspiration, the national coordinator of Buhari/Osinbajo Support Group in the 2019 general elections, Prince Ebunola Martins, says Tinubu’s presidential interest is the needed statement to confirm that he does not have the interest and sanctity of Nigeria at heart.
Prince Martins describes his presidential aspiration as the height of unfairness to a country he pretends to love, saying it is selfish and an apparent display of greed.
Speaking on a live programme on Arise TV, Martins wondered about the conscience of Tinubu and his supporters in the pursuit of the 2023 presidential interest.
He stated that in the spirit of fairness and equity, southeast Nigeria should be supported to produce the next President. He argued that as a statesman and experienced politician, Tinubu is in a position to know that fairness and equity are factors to stabilize the country at this critical stage adding that Tinubu will only pretend not to know about these factors if he is blinded by greed and inordinate ambition.
“I am a Yoruba man and I love my Yoruba race. But every part of the country must be encouraged to have a sense of belonging.
“The southeast supported a Yoruba man, Olusegun Obasanjo for eight years. They also supported the south-south during Jonathan and the north through Umaru Yar’Adua and present President Buhari.
“Therefore, My own take is to allow the presidency to move to the southeast.
“If I am Tinubu, I will not run for the election. He should support southeast. I will vote for southeast presidency. They should be given the grace and opportunity
“There are capable hands in the southeast. I believe in fairness and equity,” he stated
Bola Ahmed Tinubu was a governor of Lagos State between 1999 and 2007. He is currently the national leader of the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC.
