Bobrisky Taunts Fellow Nigerian Cross
OpenLife Nigeria reports that prominent Nigerian cross-dresser Bobrisky has publicly criticized fellow cross-dressers in Nigeria, claiming that their online popularity has sharply declined since his relocation to the United Kingdom.
In a recent Instagram post, he stated that those who tried to copy his style have struggled to maintain relevance in his absence, likening their fall in influence to a “Titanic yacht” sinking.
He highlighted his own role in helping them gain attention, pointing out that some of their posts now receive very little engagement, with likes and comments dropping to as few as 17.
He wrote:
“But wait!!! As soon as I left Nigeria all dis wanna be Bob in Nigeria engagement and name sank like Titanic yacht. You can see I was the one helping them get noticed. How can you post and have 17 comment? Literally all ur post are hidden. Likes damn, from fame to followers.”
BOBRISKY EARLY LIFE, FAMILY AND ORIGIN
Bobrisky, born Okuneye Idris Olanrewaju on August 31, 1991, in Ebute Metta, Lagos State, Nigeria, comes from Ogun State. He was raised in a polygamous Muslim household where his father, Alhaji Okuneye, had multiple wives, and his mother, Alhaja Bollington, was the youngest wife. Bobrisky is the youngest child and the second son among his mother’s three children. His mother passed away in 2008.
Although raised in a devout Muslim family, he later converted to Christianity, explaining that the prayer obligations of Islam felt too demanding. He attended King’s High School and Okota High School in Lagos for secondary education and went on to earn a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting from the University of Lagos (UNILAG).
CONTROVERSY SURROUNDING HIS GENDER DECISION
Bobrisky has been a central figure in public debates about gender identity in Nigeria.
He identifies as a transgender woman, uses she/her pronouns, and has undergone multiple cosmetic procedures to achieve a more feminine appearance, including a widely discussed transformation in 2021. He has repeatedly described himself as fully a woman following these surgeries. However, after his 2024 imprisonment for naira abuse, authorities conducted a medical examination and stated that he had not completed full gender reassignment surgery, which sparked accusations that he had misled the public.
His time in a male prison facility intensified criticism that the punishment targeted his gender expression more than the financial offense itself, reflecting Nigeria’s generally conservative attitudes toward non-traditional gender identities.
Bobrisky has also drawn backlash from parts of the LGBTQ+ community for publicly opposing homosexuality and same-sex marriage while presenting himself as a queer figure, with some accusing him of reinforcing stereotypes or portraying transgender life as performative or financially motivated.
THOSE UPCOMING TRANSGENDER THAT WERE LOOKING UP TO HIM BEFORE HE LEFT NIGERIA
Prior to his departure from Nigeria, Bobrisky was widely regarded as a trailblazer and role model for many emerging cross-dressers and transgender individuals, often referred to affectionately as the “Mummy of Lagos.”
Several figures openly credited him with inspiring their own journeys into cross-dressing and social media visibility. Among them were James Brown (born James Obialor), who has said Bobrisky’s lifestyle influenced him to adopt a similar persona for a period, as well as Jay Boogie (Daniel Nsikan), Jay Bugatti, Jerffina Lewinsky, JPBlush, Ja Ama, Onyx Godwin, TobiTheCreator, and Miss Sahhara. Many of these individuals emulated his bold fashion, makeup, and online presence in hopes of achieving similar fame and influence. While some built their own followings, others experienced public fallouts or rivalries with Bobrisky, and his departure left a noticeable gap in the visibility and momentum of the Nigerian cross-dressing scene.
CONTROVERSY SURROUNDING WHY HE RELOCATED TO UK
Bobrisky’s move to the United Kingdom in late 2024 was surrounded by significant controversy and legal complications.
Following his six-month prison sentence for naira abuse, he faced repeated attempts to leave Nigeria that were blocked first at the Seme border by immigration officials and later at Lagos airport by the EFCC while trying to board a flight to London. He publicly explained the relocation as necessary for his mental health and to escape what he described as Nigeria’s toxic environment.
However, speculation arose that he was attempting to evade further investigations, including allegations of bribery involving prison officials during his incarceration.
Additional rumors circulated about failed asylum applications in the UK, leading to claims that he ended up in Amsterdam instead, where his passport was reportedly seized, preventing return to Nigeria for a decade.
Bobrisky has dismissed much of the criticism, insisting the move was temporary and aimed at finding peace, though the repeated detentions and conflicting accounts fueled ongoing debate.
CURRENT LIFE IN THE UK
As of early 2026, Bobrisky is believed to be living in the United Kingdom (or at least claims to be), where he has focused on personal reflection, mental well-being, and stepping away from past controversies.
He has spoken about finally finding peace after years of public scrutiny and has announced intentions to grow closer to God in the new year while pursuing further education.

On social media, he continues to share opinions on various topics, including advice to women about relationships and critiques of lifestyle and economic conditions in the UK.
Despite these posts, conflicting reports have suggested he may not be living in the luxury he sometimes portrays, with some sources claiming he has been in temporary accommodations or even outside the UK for extended periods.
Regardless, he remains active online, posting new photos and updates that keep his followers engaged and speculating about his exact whereabouts and current circumstances.
