OpenLife Nigeria has gathered that persons have been reported dead as a petrol tanker crushed a commercial tricycle by Aziza junction, Ometan Community along the Effurun/Sapele road in Okpe Local Government Area of Delta State.
It was learnt that the commercial tricycle was driving on one way on a very high speed when it failed brake and rammed into the petrol tanker which was also a high speed going towards Sapele.
In the process, the petrol tanker grinded the tricycle to pieces and the passengers were said have died instantly.
The tanker driver, rather than stop, drove away quickly from the accident scene. While many described his action as heartless, a few others agreed it was the best thing under the circumstance as he could be lynched by furious tricycle opersators and probably other road users.
Delta State, which was created by the military administration of General Ibrahim Babangida, has the Sapele road and Effurun axis as some of its most busiest routes in the oil rich State.
