Bimbo Ademoye Accuses Lagos Producer
OpenLife Nigeria reports that Nollywood actress and producer Bimbo Ademoye has publicly taken aim at Lagos-based sound producer Emmanuel Davies, alleging that he unlawfully uploaded the original track “Ogochimere” created specifically for her latest movie across major music streaming platforms, including Spotify, and claimed ownership.
Ademoye asserts that the unauthorised release resulted in the demonetisation of her film on digital platforms where she had monetisation rights.
In a forceful statement, she said:
“The song ‘Ogochimere’ was specially made for my movie. You uploaded it on all platforms, including Spotify, claiming it as yours, and caused demonetisation of the movie I worked so hard for.
If I put a ban on your head and they find you, you won’t like it. I’m giving you just one hour to take down that sound and restore my monetization just one hour.”
The dispute has ignited conversations within Nollywood about creative rights, enforcement of copyright protections, and the impact of digital piracy on independent film revenue.
