<p>Ashanti Region Tertiary Institutions are currently undergoing the 2nd phase of nationwide <a href="http://www.wsj.com">disinfection</a>.</p>



<p>This is sequel to the central government’s continuous measures to halt the spread of the malignant novel coronavirus disease, COVID-19.</p>



<p><a href="https://openlife.ng/">Ministry of Education, MoE, Ghana Education System, GES</a>,  ;and waste management expert, Zoomlion Ghana are in partnership with the execution.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>DURATION</strong></h2>



<p>The government has earnmarked the three-day excercise to end August 23. </p>

<p>The disinfection exercise covers both public and private universities, polytechnic universities and health facilities in the region. ; ;</p>



<p><a href="https://openlife.ng/">President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo</a>, had,  ;in his 15th national address on measures  ;taken against the spread of <a href="http://www.dailymail.co.uk">COVID-19 </a>for tertiary institutions, instructed disinfection of all tertiary institutions in the country with a view of  ;reopening  ;on August 24.</p>



<p>This , according to the President, is to allow continuing students complete their academic calendar. ; ;</p>



<p>On day one of the exercise in the Ashanti Region, Zoomlion disinfected Seventh Day Adventist College of Education (SDACOE), Agona, <a href="https://openlife.ng/">ST. Monica&#8217;s College of Educatio</a>n, Mampong and<a href="http://www.dailymail.co.uk"> Mampong Technical College of Education</a> among others.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>DISINFECTED FACILITIES</strong></h2>



<p>Facilities of these institutions that underwent disinfection were halls of residences, lecture halls, various faculties, administration blocks and offices. ; ;</p>



<p>Also, the Zoomlion disinfection crew used foggers to disinfect the open spaces and other surfaces in all of these institutions. ;</p>



<p>Speaking to the media after the exercise, the Principal of Seventh Day Adventist College, Dr Peter Ofori Atakorah, underscored the importance of the exercise, adding that ‘so far his college had not recorded any positive case of the virus.’</p>

<p>He praised the government and its partners for the second round of disinfection in tertiary institutions. ;</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>EXPECTATIONS</strong></h2>



<p>According to him, the exercise will help keep the school’s environment safe from the virus.</p>



<p>In addition, Atakorah said the school had put in place adequate safety measures to protect returning students against pandemic. <strong>Veronica buckets</strong> and alcohol-based hand sanitisers are at vantage points for students&#8217; use.</p>



<p>Furthermore, he stated that &#8220;The school will enforce students, teaching and non teaching staff members&#8217; use of nose masks.”</p>



<p>Schools, by mid-June, had been directed to be re-opened for final year students writing their exit examinations. </p>
