Anambra 2021 governorship election gathers momentum
OpenLife Nigeria reports that as the Anambra 2021 governorship election gathers momentum, Mr. Godwin Chukwunaenye Ezeemo, an industrialist, says he has what it takes to make the 30 years old State the most economically viable State in Nigeria.
Ezeemo, chairman, Orient Group of companies, is in the November 2021 governorship race on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.
Speaking in an exclusive interview with OpenLife in Lagos, the philanthropist vowed to deploy his international contacts, experience and connections to redefine Anambra’s socio-economic direction in a manner that the State would become the destination of choice for tourists, academia, investors and commerce.
“When I assume office as Anambra elected governor by God’s grace and through the peoples’ votes, my administration would run on the principle of merit and best practices across cadre.
“That is an aspect of our broad game plans to entrench hard work, adherence to rules of engagements and commitment to excellence in the system.
“ No Ndi Anambra would need to know someone in government to get whatever the person legitimately desires and merits in the State.
“I am a product of merits right from my primary school days. Anambra State nurtured me to always work hard and excel in whatever I am involved in. It was that intuition that enabled me to compete in business at both local and international levels, resulting to huge successes.
“I believe that is the way to go. We are going to equip the youths with education and skills so that our children can be innovative. They can compete anywhere in the world. Our supports for education will be unequalled in the history of the State.
“Once we have a generation with merits running in their blood, the innovative and developmental foundation we plan for Anambra’s greatness would be sustained,” he assured.
Ezeemo, who has been sponsoring various social, cultural and sporting activities in the State sees insecurity as a menace that must be tackled with dispatch.
But much as he would not unveil his security strategies on the pages of newspaper in view of its sensitive nature, he however noted that his short and long term approaches would make Anambra a safe haven for business and social life to strive.
He assured his competence to revive power in the state through segmented designs for household and industrial consumption saying power is key to economic development and stable power supply forms an integral part of his plans to drive development.
He maintained that his desire to change the Anambra narrative through public office is born out of passion saying that the Anambra of his dream is realizable because of his articulated innovative programmes in urban-rural redesigns, motivated and result oriented civil service, cultural rebirth, technology driven academic and agricultural excellence among others.
“Our programmes for these critical areas including erosion control are miles ahead of other aspirants.
“God has been kind to me and my family. We don’t go to bed in empty stomach. That is what I want to replicate in Anambra State.
“As a private sector operator, I have been supporting my Anambra people through different private initiatives. But I came to the realization that there are visions that can be better achieved through public policies as a governor.
“That is the spirit behind my aspiration and Anambra people know this. That is the reason I have no doubt in my mind that I will be the next governor,” he assured.
As the primary election gets closer, Ezeemo, a known supporter of the propagation of God’s word, urged party delegates in PDP to consider credibility and integrity far and above financial gains that may not last beyond a month.
He noted that there are communities across Nigeria wallowing in deprivation as a results of errors in the choice of wrong candidate during primary election.
“There are many communities that are deprived because wrongly elected officers only consider themselves after election.
“There are evidences of untold hardship after election because credibility was sacrificed for financial gains during primary elections.
“However, I trust our party leaders as well as delegates as men and women with credible backgrounds who will consider merit as a factor of choice.
Without doubt, I rank high on the scale of integrity, commitment to people’s welfare and competence to take make Anambra the preferred destination for investors of all categories,” he stated.
