Ampotuah, Parliamentary aspirant, defies Presidential stay-at home order, campaigns in Ashanti region

&NewLine;<p class&equals;"wp-block-paragraph">To the surprise of many&comma; John Kuma Ampotuah &comma; a Parliamentary aspirant in the Ashanti region of the Republic of Ghana has  defied a  Presidential stay-at home order&comma; put in place  as a precautionary measure to halt further spread of the ravaging COVID-19&comma;  and  campaigned vigorously at Ejisu&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;&NewLine;&NewLine;&NewLine;<p class&equals;"wp-block-paragraph">According to Ebenezer Kofi&NewLine;Amponsah of the Africa News Network&comma; Ghanaians are wondering about the attitude&NewLine;of people who seem to be preaching virtue and do vice&period; <&sol;p>&NewLine;&NewLine;&NewLine;&NewLine;<p class&equals;"wp-block-paragraph">In specific reference&comma; Ampotuah&comma;&NewLine;the parliamentary aspirant for Ejisu in the Ashanti region and the CEO of&NewLine;National Entrepreneurship and Innovation Plan&comma; NEIP&comma; has disregarded the&NewLine;president’s self-restriction imposition directive to solicit for votes ahead of&NewLine;the NPP internal parliamentary primaries at Ejisu in the Ashanti region&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;&NewLine;&NewLine;&NewLine;<p class&equals;"wp-block-paragraph">The CEO of NEIP and a&NewLine;lawyer cannot tell Ghanaians and the people of Ejisu he is unaware of the&NewLine;implications of defying the President directive by campaigning and meeting with&NewLine;delegates in Krapa electoral area at the GRNMA Guest house on Monday afternoon&period;&NewLine;<&sol;p>&NewLine;&NewLine;&NewLine;&NewLine;<p class&equals;"wp-block-paragraph">He later also met other&NewLine;delegates at Fumesua at Kokobra between 6 and 8pm&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;&NewLine;&NewLine;&NewLine;<p class&equals;"wp-block-paragraph">But what informed the&NewLine;lawyer to flouts the President&&num;8217&semi;s directives to meet with the party delegates at&NewLine;two separate venues at Ejisu is still unknown&period; Isn&&num;8217&semi;t he aware of all these protocols&quest;&NewLine;What is it that can&&num;8217&semi;t be put on hold&quest;<&sol;p>&NewLine;&NewLine;&NewLine;&NewLine;<p class&equals;"wp-block-paragraph">Isn&&num;8217&semi;t it surprising to&NewLine;find lawyer John Kuma who is well enlightened to educate people on the&NewLine;president directives to help prevent the spread of the deadly disease going on&NewLine;a campaign spree soliciting for votes in the Ejisu constituency&period;&quest; <&sol;p>&NewLine;&NewLine;&NewLine;&NewLine;<p class&equals;"wp-block-paragraph">His actions clearly&NewLine;contravene the pronouncement on social distancing&comma; and all other public&NewLine;gatherings and protocols&comma; the president has directed&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;&NewLine;&NewLine;&NewLine;<p class&equals;"wp-block-paragraph">It will be recalled that&NewLine;in 2009 when Nana Akufo Addo returned from a trip from abroad after the party&&num;8217&semi;s&NewLine;national delegates Congress in December 2007&comma; <&sol;p>&NewLine;&NewLine;&NewLine;&NewLine;<p class&equals;"wp-block-paragraph">&nbsp&semi;Kuma asked the leadership of the NPP to call&NewLine;President Nana Addo to order when a group of party supporters welcomed him at&NewLine;KIA even without an outbreak of a disease in Ghana at the time&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;&NewLine;&NewLine;&NewLine;<p class&equals;"wp-block-paragraph">When asked why he raised&NewLine;those concerns against President Nana Addo in 2009&comma; he said &&num;8220&semi;This has&NewLine;nothing to do with personalities and I am looking at the Constitution of our&NewLine;party and the wisdom the framers of the Constitution&period;”<&sol;p>&NewLine;&NewLine;&NewLine;&NewLine;<p class&equals;"wp-block-paragraph">Lawyer John Kuma&comma; who&NewLine;knows the heart of the NPP Constitution and believes in the action he took then&comma;&nbsp&semi; should certainly apply same in ensuring that&NewLine;he simply adheres to the imposition of the Restrictions Act 2020&lpar; Act 1012&rpar;&NewLine;which clearly restrict the movement of people in the Gt&period; Accra and Gt&period; Kumasi&NewLine;including Ejisu&period; <&sol;p>&NewLine;&NewLine;&NewLine;&NewLine;<p class&equals;"wp-block-paragraph">Apart from the delegates&comma;&NewLine;some constituents have also asked the leadership of the NPP at the regional and&NewLine;constituency levels to crack the whip by offering the requisite sanctions&NewLine;enshrined in their constitution if he is oblivious of the consequences of his&NewLine;actions on the delegates and Ejisuman community as a whole&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;
