Akintunde Akintayo, Washington DC Metropolitan Police Officer, Exposes Defects, Solutions To Nigeria Police Force

OpenLife Nigeria reports that Mr. Akintunde Akintayo of the Washington DC Metropolitan Police Department has offered tips on how Nigeria Police Force can function effectively.

Akintunde, a graduate of University of Baltimore, joined the DC police department in May 2016. He was among the officers of the Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) that featured in its new web series, “Beyond the Badge,” shown on multiple DC Police social media platforms in October 2018.

Speaking as a guest on Arise TV Sunday morning, the United States  Police Officer pointed out defects in the administration of Police in Nigeria.

Among other things, Akintayo listed poor welfare of Police officers, inadequate training, poor salary, ineffective work equipment, conducive work environment, lack of pension clarity for officers as basic problems in the Nigeria Police Force.

As a remedy, Adetayo who disclosed $70k as his annual pay in Washington DC Met Police urged the government to pay attention to these shortcomings so that Nigeria can have effective police system.

“Training is very important. Police officers must be trained on how to handle community issues. Police is the first in line in law enforcement in the business of safety and security.

“I am the face of the people in the US because I am the first person they run to when in trouble. Therefore, I must be okay to be able to discharge my duties. That is why welfare of officers is very important,” Adetayo said.
