Davido and Chioma, legally married
OpenLife Nigeria reports that just less than 72 hours when Afrobeats star, David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, reportedly increased his bank account with N17 billion through a fee for playing in an Indian wedding, the super star has set a new record on Spotify Nigeria with 4.82 million streams in one week.
His newly released single, ‘Funds’, featuring Odumodublvck and Chike, has now set a new record for the highest number of streams in a single week on Spotify Nigeria.
The feat saw the song dethrone Wizkid’s Kese (Dance), which previously held the title with 4.72 million streams.
The 31-year-old singer, also known as OBO (Omo Baba Olowo), responded in his usual energetic style, quoting a post on X and sharing it on his Instagram story with a simple, “We believe in God.”
This isn’t the first time Davido, known for his chart-topping hits like ‘Fall’ and ‘If’, has made headlines for breaking records.
Meanwhile, during his appearance on ‘The Baller Alert Show’, he revealed the reason behind his decision to feature Odumodublvck and Chike in his single ‘Funds’, stressing his pride in showcasing Nigerian talents.
“I featured both of them; it’s like, why run away from home when everybody is running there now?
“It features the current biggest rapper in Nigeria, Odumodublvck, and Chike—he is the Bryson Tiller of Nigeria; girls love him,” he added.
