OpenLife Nigeria reports that Nigeria’s Super Eagles have booked a place in the AFCON 2025 Round of 16 after edging Tunisia 3–2 in an entertaining Group clash in Morocco on Saturday.
Victor Osimhen, Wilfried Ndidi and Ademola Lookman were on target for Nigeria, whose goals ensured qualification from the group. Osimhen opened the scoring in the 44th minute, finishing a well-weighted cross from Lookman.
Captain Ndidi doubled the advantage five minutes after the restart, once again benefiting from Lookman’s creativity. Lookman then capped an impressive display with a goal of his own in the 70th minute, converting an assist from Osimhen.
Tunisia mounted a late fightback as Talbi struck in the 74th minute before Abdi reduced the deficit further from the penalty spot in the 87th minute, following a handball by Bright Osayi-Samuel. However, the comeback fell short as Nigeria held on for victory.
The Super Eagles will now face Uganda in the Round of 16 on Tuesday at 5pm, as they continue their quest for continental glory.
